PANDAS/PANS: Identifying Infectious Triggers

All healing journeys start with an accurate diagnosis.

With PANDAS/PANS, identifying initial and ongoing infectious triggers is essential to guide treatment.
- A*O and anti-DNAseB (Strep titers)
- Mycoplasma

- Other Tick-borne Illness

Other organisms depending on medical history and response to standard treatments

As always, algorithms and protocols are starting points. Dr. Adame and her team meet patients and their families where they are in their journey, whether the child's symptoms started just weeks earlier or they have already received the entire PANDAS protocol including IVIG. She will adjust the diagnostic strategy depending on previous work up completed, history, and treatment goals.

Diagnosing PANDAS/PANS poses challenges because there is no one specific test to confirm the diagnosis.

And sometimes, you may hear that your child's symptoms are not due to PANDAS/PANS.

What happens next?

We go back to the drawing board. We retrace our steps. We review the history once again. We take a deep dive into the chart and what diagnostics we have up to that point.

It may be autism, ADHD, depression, generalized anxiety, cerebral folate deficiency, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, primary immunodeficiency, MCAS, or a genetic or metabolic condition.

But all healing journeys start with an accurate diagnosis. And that why here, at Culver Peds, it is crucial to us that we understand YOUR child's specific needs.

The Glow Within is an empowering, confidence-building wellness workshop series for girls and female-identifying patients of all ages.

The topics are focused on body positivity, self-care, personal hygiene, and healthy relationships.

We ONLY offer this service to our members and their caregivers!

Dr. Adame will share her skin care routine, which begins in the kitchen with healthy nourishment.

She will review options for natural cleansing, gentle exfoliation, anti-inflammatory serums, and moisturizing.

She will demonstrate how to make a natural facial with homemade, plant-based ingredients.
