Today MSDH is reporting an additional 1,773 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 55 deaths for the three-day period September 24-26. 28 of these deaths occurred between September 12 and September 23. An additional 27 deaths occurred between August 24 and September 20, identified from death certificate reports. Mississippi's total of COVID-19 cases is now 484,675, with 9,480 deaths.

There are currently 100 ongoing outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.

VACCINATIONS
Vaccination against COVID-19 is free, safe and greatly reduces the risk of hospitalization and death. You can be vaccinated at any of our free sites, or at hundreds of providers statewide. Find vaccination information and locate one near you at https://msdh.ms.gov/c19vaccination

If you are homebound, get help with COVID-19 vaccination by emailing COVIDHomebound@msdh.ms.gov, or call 877-978-6453.

Third vaccine doses (boosters) are now available through county health departments for those who qualify. More information at https://msdh.ms.gov/boosters

TREATMENT

According to the CDC, 41.5% of American adults report having symptoms of an anxiety or depressive disorder as of February 2021, more than double from 2019. The pandemic is suspected as primary causal factor for this unprecedented percentage. The impact is significant, including on availability of mental health services.

Vaccines work. Slow the spread.

Getting vaccinated is still the best way to protect yourself and help slow the spread of COVID-19. As the virus spreads, it has new opportunities to mutate and may become more difficult to stop. By slowing the spread, we can reduce the chance of new variants emerging. COVID-19 vaccines used in the United States help protect against Delta and other known variants.
