Have you ever found yourself wide awake at 2 or 3 in the morning, unable to drift back to sleep—no matter how tired you feel? Or maybe you’re constantly exhausted, but your mind just won’t shut off at night. These might seem like random annoyances, but they could actually be signs that your cortisol levels are elevated.

Cortisol, often called the “stress hormone,” plays a key role in how your body responds to stress. But when it stays high for too long, it can throw everything off balance.
