For the longest time I was TERRIFIED of driving. As an already anxious person, it didn’t help that I got my drivers license and learned to drive just last year at age 43

Having lived in NYC most of my life, I never needed a car, but now as a Dallas resident, it’s an absolute necessity

Being terrified on the road just isn’t an option for me. I’m tense and it takes away from the experience, not to mention it’s unsafe. Decision making isn’t the best when your brain is in constant flight, flight, or freeze mode

Self-coaching myself (I use a lot of the tools on myself that I teach my clients how to use for themselves) has helped me overcome my fear of driving

I wanted to share what I’ve been doing, in case you want to steal these tools for yourself

The message the universe is sending to us all is this:

“ YOU CANNOT FAIL. YOU CAN ONLY LEARN AND GROW”

Leaving your comfort zone takes courage. There has to be trust in the universe (or whatever higher power you believe in) that you are safe and you will be ok

You can make the changes you need to make in order to have the life you dream of. Your future self is already there, and is counting on you to take that first step

Getting a third breast cancer diagnosis was not in my 2024 bingo card. Nor was needing to go through chemotherapy for the first time

Life really do be giving us challenges sometimes huh?

I’m a big believer in the way we approach challenges significantly affect the journey. Challenges, difficulties and hardships in life are inevitable. The sooner we accept this as a normal part of life, the sooner we can learn to make our journey through them smoother

Not only was my diagnosis devastating and terrifying, it also came at a time when life was already changing. I was getting ready to move my daughter into college and move out of my apartment where I lived for 19 years. Not that the news “you have cancer again” can come at a good time, but it can certainly come at the worst time. Ana this was kind of it

If life has taught me anything, it was that my mindset, my resilience, my problem solving skills can help me through this really sh*tty time

Here is the big lesson in all of this:

1: feel your feelings. It’s ok to be scared, angry, sad or anything else you’re feeling. They’re valid and you’re allowed to feel them

2: ask for, and accepted help & support. I would have been completely lost without the love and support of my family and friends. You don’t have to go through difficult times alone. Rely on the people who want to help you. There is no shame in needing help

3: take things one step at a time. When things get overwhelming, take a few deep breaths, make a plan and tackle that fu**er one step at a time. I promise it makes all the difference

4: you will grow. We don’t always ask for the life lessons we get, but it’s important to take the opportunity to grow from them. Pay attention to how you react and respond in certain situations. What did you like about it? What could you have done differently? How can you grow from this experience? Everything in life has the ability to teach us something about ourselves if we’re willing to learn

I hope that this can help someone who might be struggling right now. You are not alone. Don’t give up. You are loved

What you focus your energy on becomes your reality. What you water grows. Remember that when you want to change your habits, your reality, your life

I can easily focus on all the unfortunate things that happened. Diagnosed with cancer 3 times in a span of 11 years. I can easily focus on the fact that I have no hair, that I’m undergoing chemo, that I had to put a lot of thins on pause…that some things I’ll never be able to do again

And yet I feel gratitude and my heart is full. It hasn’t been an easy life (even aside from cancer), but it’s been a beautiful life so far

And I think that’s the whole point. For us to learn and understand that sometimes things are difficult and unfair and at times downright cruel. We have to acknowledge and allow things to suck sometimes but we also have to redirect our energy on the things that’s are good and beautiful. On the things that ARE working out

As we do, as we change the way we choose to look at things, life starts to look more beautiful and precious and good. LIFE IS GOOD

Getting to a place of self-love, to be comfortable in our skin, to accept our flaws and love ourselves unconditionally anyway takes time and work but it’s the place of complete freedom we all deserve to be

Getting here isn’t free. It costs time, life lessons that are often painful, courage, failure, self-discovery, honesty, patience and work…lot of work

My purpose & goal is to help other women join me here. So we can be freely & unapologetically ourselves here. So we can uplift, support & empower others here

This is what I hope for the future of this page. I hope to create a community for women where they feel safe to be truly themselves

I wish I didn’t have to make this post but there needs to be more awareness about this

We are taught to trust doctors because they’re experts at their craft. But doctors make mistakes, they fail to order extra tests, they miss a diagnosis. They’re humans after all and I’m not sh****ng on doctors with this post

This post is to bring awareness to women so they can advocate for themselves when it comes to their health. Way too often women get ignored, aren’t taken seriously, get misdiagnosed and sadly, pay for these mistakes with their lives

PLEASE don’t ever feel bad for being pushy, or for being “too much” when seeking answers to questions about your health

BE DEMANDING. BE A GODDAMN FIRE BREATHING DRAGON if that’s what it takes for someone to listen to your concerns

And when in doubt, PLEASE ASK FOR A BIOPSY

Self care can be much more challenging during difficult times yet it’s during those times that it’s more important than ever

I’m not doing ok at all mentally or emotionally right now. The looming PET scan and the results are consuming a lot of my energy

It’s important to practice some form of self-care so I don’t fall apart

A couple of things I didn’t include in the slide:

➡️🚶🏻‍♀️getting some movement in outdoors-right now that’s usually just a walk

➡️ working with my clients-it gives me a sense of normalcy and it’s such an important feeling to have right now

Please remember that it’s ok not to be ok. Allowing those feelings to move though you rather than suppressing them or trying to ignore them is an important part of healing and coping

Hang in there. You’re not alone 🤍

My biopsy results came back positive for cancer

I’m beginning a new battle with cancer for the third time. There are so many emotions going through me-from fear and anger to hope and acceptance

I never thought I’d be here again, right before I was supposed to pack up my life and leave NY. But sometimes the universe has a different plan

What that plan looks like I don’t know yet-I still have more questions than answers. I have a PET scan scheduled for early next week and will know more once those results come back

Not knowing is absolute torture. Being in limbo, waiting to hear results, finding out if the cancer has spread is the worst feeling

Needless to say I haven’t been ok. My mind is going to places I wish it didn’t, my anxiety is at an all time high and it’s hard to show up in everyday, normal life. Some days are better than others

I wanted to share this here because despite this f*cking awful news, I still want to and plan to show up here. I will be sharing my journey here with whoever wants to come along. It honestly helps me cope, and maybe it will also help someone else who is going through something similar

Align your values & actions with your goal

What do I mean by that exactly?

Successful behavior change comes from curiosity and alignment. Let’s say you have a goal become a healthier eater

The curiosity part comes from asking yourself questions like:
“What does that look like on a daily/weekly/monthly basis?”
“Is this plan too easy/aggressive”? (Remember you want your goals to be challenging enough but achievable)
“What is the first step in getting this plan in motion?”
Details add important because they help you plan and figure out what values and actions you need to embody in order to succeed

When you think of your goal, what values are you attaching to it? For example, if your values are time with family and setting boundaries, how will becoming a healthier eater honor these values?
Maybe cooking healthy balanced meals with your family is a way to spend quality time with them. Or taking an actual lunch break at work and eating a nutritious meal is how you honor a boundary

What actions can you take that connect it all together? Maybe you’re also going grocery shopping as a family, maybe you’re meal prepping every Sunday for the week ahead

And the cool thing is, even on days you’re not having a nutritious meal (because that’s totally ok!), you can still live within your values and spend quality time with your family or take a lunch break at work

The more curious you get about your why and how they help you live your truth (values), the more likely you’re going to be consistent with practicing the actions
