Biography of a HillJilly,
My name is Jill and I am so happy that you are here! With all of the fear and uncertainty in our world today, there is a huge push for people to get back to doing things “the old way” and in learning how our ancestors lived and thrived off of the land. My hope is to inspire you to learn more about the abundance of natural herbs, plants and minerals available to help heal the root issues that cause dis-ease and much suffering in our lives. I am a mother, grandmother (Mimi), herbalist, homesteader and a HillJilly. My retirement home is nestled in the Ozarks of North Central Arkansas, and I split time between Texas and Arkansas. My passion is learning about plants and herbs native to both regions and in crafting plant, herbal and mineral remedies to address common concerns of my friends and family in both states. I have been a registered nurse for 28 years and, until 10 years ago, was very pro-pharma and western medicine. In my arrogance, I smirked at the old-school, traditional approaches to health and wellness. I believed, to my core, that doctors and hospitals were absolutely essential to anyone who wanted to live a long and healthy life. My indoctrination was so complete that I could not hear anyone try to explain how oils, plants, herbs, minerals, healthy land, pure water and clean food were the real secret to health and wellness. In 2011, my oldest granddaughter suffered a severe reaction to her first two rounds of infant vaccines. I became violently angry when it was suggested that her sudden onset of severe respiratory issues; body rashes, poor weight gain, irritability and life-threatening allergies, may have been triggered by childhood immunizations. So angry that I started down the long and winding rabbit hole of research to prove those anti-vaxers wrong, and myself right (super-arrogance, remember?). In the 12 years since starting down the research rabbit hole, my arrogance shriveled and died and was replaced with a deep grief over how many people were being harmed in my profession and how skilled the healthcare machine is at covering that harm up. There are volumes of research proving our western approach to treating illness and disease is not healthcare, it is sick-care, and is wholly intended to create lifetime customers for big pharma. Interestingly, this research is becoming harder and harder to find as censorship and media manipulation actively scrubs the internet of as much of this information as possible. When first starting out with plant/herbal/mineral preparations, the intention is to continue with any medications you are currently taking to manage your symptoms or dis-ease and closely monitor the effects. The goal is to help you and your family reach their health goals. This could look like slowly reducing or replacing prescription medications with plant/herbal/mineral remedies or simply supplementing them. This is achieved by working to identify and treat the root cause of your suffering and work to eliminate it. The use of plant/herbal/mineral remedies should be combined with active efforts to reduce/eliminate the cause of the dis-ease using a wholistic approach that examines your food, water, and overall environment to make changes to allow for overall healing and wellness.

The same urgency is needed when your body is sending an alarm that something is not right.
