Ever start a major project and quietly think to yourself:
• This is too much
• I can’t do it
• What was I thinking?

The thing with taking on a big project is this -- You don’t have to do everything at once. You just have to start.

I’ve had to “relearn” that lesson a few times.

Most recently… with a 1,000-piece puzzle.

It was a gift from a friend and 100% music based – right up my alley!

But when I dumped all the pieces on the table?
→Immediate regret and overwhelm
→Too many pieces.
→Too much going on.

I almost gave up before I even started. Seriously.

It took me two full days just to shift my mindset from “this is impossible” to “Kristi, you’ve got this.”

Are you feeling this with career advancement?

→ You open the metaphorical box—LinkedIn, resume, layoffs, AI disruption, you name it—and your first instinct is: “I just can’t do it.”

But when you start by breaking things down into bite-size pieces…you can (and WILL) make progress.

And that my friend, feels AMAZING!

It took me six days to finish the puzzle.

Not sure how many hours. A lot.

But let me say this…the feeling of pride when I finished it was something I didn’t expect.

Ever started a project that felt totally overwhelming at first?

AI is coming to take your job.
We’ve all been hearing it, right?

Some people panic.
Some people tune it out.
And some are wondering quietly if their role is already shifting behind the scenes.

Personally, I don't think AI is wiping out careers overnight.
But it IS CHANGING what’s expected of you... faster than most realize.

I recently read a great piece from Michelle Dumas of Distinctive Career Services that breaks this down clearly:
✔️ AI is automating tasks
✔️ Job descriptions are evolving
✔️ The skills that used to set you apart may not be enough in 2026

This doesn’t mean you have to start over.
It means you need to evolve with INTENTION.

Start by focusing on the skills that still matter most:
→ Strategic thinking
→ Communication
→ Emotional intelligence
→ Adaptability
→ AI awareness (even if you’re not technical)

I want to hear from you: What changes are you seeing in your field? How are YOU preparing?

Executive presence isn’t just how you show up in a meeting.
It’s how you show up everywhere, especially online.

We tend to think of executive presence as how we carry ourselves in a room.
How we speak.
How we lead a conversation or present on a Zoom call.

But one piece that gets overlooked way too often is your digital presence.

Your digital presence is everything you do online that tells the story of who you are as a professional.

And yes, it’s part of your executive presence whether you like it or not.

That includes:
– What you post
– What you comment on (and how you comment)
– The tone in your DMs
– How you show up on Zoom—camera on or off, distracted or present
– Your consistency across platforms

I’ve seen people complain about recruiters online while applying for jobs.
And I’ve worked with execs who looked polished on paper with a strong resume and solid LinkedIn, but their online activity told a completely different story.

Remember, people are watching.

Hiring leaders. Colleagues. Recruiters.
And it’s never just your profile they’re looking at.
They can see your comments, posts, and engagement.

So if you’re working on building or reinforcing your executive presence for the next phase of your career, don’t just polish your resume and call it a day. Look at the full picture.

Because how you show up online is part of how people experience you as a leader.

Have you ever seen someone’s digital presence totally shift how you viewed them?
Share your thoughts, I’d love to hear what stands out to you.

The way we talk about work is changing.
So why are so many resumes still packed with words that mean... absolutely nothing?

"Passionate."
"Seasoned."
"Results-driven."
What does that even mean anymore?

In 2026, generic buzzwords aren’t cutting it.
Hiring leaders want clear, specific language that actually shows how you work and the impact you make.

Have you overused any of these?

You can have a great job and still want something better.

That doesn’t make you ungrateful.
It makes you self-aware.

I’ve worked with so many smart, high-achieving people who wait until they’re burned out or "checked out" before they give themselves permission to make a move.

You don’t need to hate your job to want more alignment, more growth, or just more space to breathe.

If you're thinking about making a change this year, start with how you're thinking, not just what you’re doing.

The people who actually see progress in their careers aren't sending out more resumes.
They're shifting their mindset.

They’re focused on:

– Progress, not perfection
– Relationships, not cold outreach
– Asking better questions
– Choosing growth, even when things are “fine”

These shifts may seem small, but they change the way you show up in conversations, interviews, and decisions.

Which of these are you working on right now?

Guess what? I applied for a job a few weeks ago.
It was a part-time, remote career consultant role,
exactly the kind of work I’ve been doing for years.

For the qualifications, I checked every single box.
I even had two internal connections who could vouch for me.
On paper, it felt like a no-brainer.

Can you guess what happened next??

Yep. Rejected. The infamous: Thanks but no thanks.

That rejection hit harder than expected.
Why?
It just didn’t make sense.

In my mind, I was the perfect candidate. At least one worthy of an interview.

In this job market, the thing is …
You probably won’t ever find out why you were passed over.

Like I tell my clients, rejection does NOT equate to value (or lack of) ~
And TBH, we just don’t know what’s going on internally at a company.

There could be tons of reasons why you were passed over…
→It 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 have something to do with your résumé
→It 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 be your limited experience
→And it 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 have nothing to do with you.

This process gave me a whole new level of empathy for the people I work with every day.
The leaders. The job seekers. The professionals who are doing all the right things and still getting shut down—quickly, quietly, without explanation.

If that’s you right now, I want you to know~
I see you. I hear you. I’ve been you.

And when I say “the right role is out there,” I’m not just saying that because it sounds good.
I say it because I believe it…with all of my being.

So if you've been passed over for a role you knew you were right for—you're not alone.

If this resonates, feel free to share. Or drop a comment and let me know what the job search has looked like for you lately—I’d love to hear.

STOP! Don't start applying to jobs yet this year.

Not until you've done these 3 very important steps.

Because here’s what I’m seeing way too often:
Smart, experienced professionals hitting “apply” before they’ve even decided what they want next.

That’s not strategy. That’s noise.

Panic-applying leads to:
– An inflated resume that tries to be everything to everyone
– A LinkedIn profile that doesn’t reflect your expertise, and
– Inboxes full of rejection emails

Instead of applying to any opportunity that sounds possible...
Be INTENTIONAL with your story, your materials, and your direction.

If you’re thinking about making a move this year, pause and ask yourself:
👉 What kind of role am I really targeting?
👉 Is my LinkedIn doing any of the heavy lifting?
👉 Does my resume show impact or just job duties?

And if you want support with this, I can help.
