I can’t believe we went from that tiny baby in my arms to this big seven year old with the sweetest heart and the funniest personality. You have changed my life in every way and made me better just by being mine.

Watching your little baby clips flash into the young man you are becoming… whew. My heart. You are smart, kind, confident, and you walk in every room like you know you belong there. I love that for you.

Today, we are turning up for your 6 7 party because you deserve to feel celebrated, loved, and poured into. You shine so bright and I’m grateful every day that God trusted me with you.

Growth is not just a business decision. It is an act of advocacy. Every time you expand your team, your systems, or your capacity, you create more room for the people who need your expertise. You shorten waitlists. You reduce burnout. You make services more accessible for students, patients, and families who would have continued to wait.

Staying small may feel comfortable, but it comes at a cost. Communities miss out on timely care. Clinicians carry workloads that were never meant for one person. Opportunities sit untouched because there is no capacity to reach them.

5 Key Takeaways From the ASHA Convention 2025

It has been a week since the convention wrapped, and taking time to reflect helped me understand the full impact of the experience. This conference was more than sessions and CEUs. It reminded me of the power of community, connection, and the brilliance that exists in our field.
1. There is so much brilliance in our field. Being surrounded by professionals who work hard on their content areas reminded me how much expertise lives in this community and pushed me to strengthen my own practice.
2. Community is one of our greatest strengths. Walking into a space filled with SLPs who understand your work and your challenges creates a sense of belonging you can feel. The people truly are the heartbeat of ASHA.
3. Networking will always matter. The conversations between sessions, the quick introductions, and the shared ideas often become the most meaningful moments. Every person you meet opens a new possibility.
4. Our profession is massive and still growing. Seeing the scale of ASHA showed just how wide our impact is across every age, setting, and stage of life.
5. The true impact of ASHA lives in the people and the growth that comes from reflecting on their work. A week later I can feel how much I grew simply by being surrounded by passionate clinicians, educators, and advocates. Reflection brings clarity. The people bring inspiration.

Honorable mention to the Black SLP Magic Conference. The joy, the pride, the representation, and the sense of home in that space poured into me in a way that only community can.

I am grateful for every room where I was seen, supported, and reminded that representation matters.

Dance or keep carrying a workload meant for three people. And obviously… I chose the dance.
