Great reminder for the next few weeks! Don’t allow someone to pressure you into an unnecessary or unwanted induction or C-Section just because their holiday plans would have to change.

This is our friendly reminder since we are in the midst of the holidays...

“Induction of labor should be performed only when there is a clear medical indication for it and the expected benefits outweigh its potential harms.” – WHO Guidelines for Induction of Labor
...A holiday is NOT a medical indication to induce labor.

Are you questioning whether or not your induction is being suggested for the right reasons? ASK QUESTIONS!
▪️Is there a medical reason that induction is being suggested?
▪️What are the potential risks for me and my baby?
▪️What are my alternatives? Can I wait?
▪️Find out your Bishop score (this will give a pretty good idea of how well your body would respond to an induction).

*pours breastmilk over COVID-19* This is amazing!!

In case you missed it: a team of researchers in the Netherlands are starting a study making ice cream from human milk that tested positive for coronavirus antibodies. They hope to use the ice creams as a means of prevention against the virus. Team leader Dr. Hans van Goudoever says “We still don't know whether it actually works. We think that … the antibodies attach to the surface of our mucous membranes. There they attack the virus particles before they pe*****te further into the body." The researchers hope the antibodies from the ice cream will function the same way.

Your decision to have an induction should just be just that: your decision. With the holiday season, more and more births are rushed. Take the time to research “informed consent” and learn what YOU want out of your healthcare provider during labour.

REMINDER👇🏼

Thanksgiving is not a valid reason for an induction!

Thanksgiving does not make an induction medically necessary.

Your HCP wanted to eat turkey with family does not make an induction medically necessary.

There are risks with induction. It isn't a simple as "picking a new due date".

Use the BRAIN method to ask questions and find out if your induction is medically necessary.

You have a choice in what happens in your birth🖤

Hello to all of my new friends on here today! (Shoutout to social media follow trains in Doula groups! ❤️)

My name is Caitlyn Mae, and I’m a birth and postpartum doula and breastfeeding counselor in Dallas, Texas. I love birth. I always have. As a kid, when I was home sick from school, I’d watch birth shows on TLC instead of cartoons. I was raised in North Georgia, so every year, my family would visit Babyland General Hospital where the Cabbage Patch Babies are born. (I’m not joking. They’re not made; they’re born. Look it up on YouTube. It looks like an L&D ward. The workers dress like nurses, dilation is discussed, and the tree births happy, plump babies. It’s the weirdest, most beautiful thing ever.) Birth has always been so interesting to me, and when I figured out how I could combine that passion with a career, I became even more obsessed!

I also run a new-ish music studio called Every Season Music ( ) where I offer in-home piano and flute lessons for children and adults. I absolutely love teaching music to children! I was a music education major but then didn’t pursue teaching as a career. It all fell into place late this Summer thanks to the ‘Rona throwing my career plans off track. Finding a way to be flexible in my job has been a huge blessing!

I own a cat. I guess he owns me, actually. Either way, his name is Skimbleshanks, and he’s a buff tabby who believes nothing is better than napping and attacking squirrels through the window. He’s yet to figure out why he can’t reach them. He’s pretty cute.

Anyone feel like this sometimes?

Life tip: find friends who won’t get annoyed when you have to care for your child on their wedding day. I’ve seen posts in Facebook groups before where brides have told their TTC friends to wait until after the wedding. How awful is that?? Your friends should support you in every season of your life.

Awesome shot of this tribe!

“It’s time for the bridesmaid photos!”
“I’m still pumping”
“Even better”

What is a doula?

Doulas are trained birth professionals who offer physical, emotional, and educational support to pregnant women and their families before, during, and directly after childbirth. We don’t take the place of loving family and friends, but an unbiased ear is often so helpful during such a sacred yet daunting time. I’d love to be able to help anyone trying to find support during their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum transitional period.

Peace and blessings,

Caitlyn Mae
