Being obese may age your brain. A new study found those who had the highest BMI scores performed worse on cognitive tests than those with lower BMIs. Higher BMI scores meant their cognitive function was 'aged' three years compared to those with lower BMIs.

Although still not fully understood, more and more data is pointing to the connection between cognitive function and body fat. There are numerous factors to consider including inflammation, high blood pressure, and glucose intolerance.

If improving your health was on your list of resolutions, make sure you include mental health. More people are addressing the mind-body connection and incorporating things like meditation, yoga, and letting go of guilt in 2022.

If the last two years have shown us anything, its we need to focus on the health of our minds as much as our bodies. Emotional stress can contribute to physical consequences if left unchecked, which means you can’t neglect mental health on your quest for overall wellness.

When participants ate at least 7 grams of olive oil per day, whether that was with cooking, eating bread, or as salad dressing, their risk of heart disease was much lower. This was even after accounting for lifestyle and socioeconomic status.
