The holidays can be hard when you’re grieving.
And no—you're not doing it “wrong.”

Grief doesn’t disappear because the calendar says it’s time to celebrate. It often gets *louder* during the season of traditions, expectations, and empty seats at the table.

At 246 Counseling, we make space for:
• missing someone
• complicated emotions
• guilt about not feeling “festive enough”
• and the grief that doesn’t follow a timeline

You don’t have to hold it all together alone this season.
Support is available, and you’re allowed to ask for it.

If the holidays feel heavier this year, we’re here.

✨ Holidays are here… and so are the feelings.
If you’re navigating family FOMO, boundary guilt, missing traditions, or that special brand of holiday existential crisis, you are so not alone.

Dr. Melissa James breaks down why this season hits so hard—and how to survive (and maybe even enjoy!) the holidays whether you’re near family, far away, or choosing peace over chaos this year.

Think: validation, humor, practical coping tools, and a whole lot of “oh wow, I needed to hear that.”

HOLIDAY PSA 🎄✨
Let’s be honest: family, extra events, all the peopling, and the financial strain of the holidays can be a lot. 😅

Something helpful to keep in mind: most insurance deductibles reset in January. So if you’ve already met yours for 2025, there’s a good chance you can see a therapist now for a very low copay, sometimes no copay at all, depending on your plan. 🙌

If you’ve been thinking about starting therapy (or coming back), this is truly a great time to take advantage of those benefits and get some support as we head into the holidays. There is absolutely no reason to walk through this season alone. We’re here for you. ❤️

After the holidays, it’s normal to feel an emotional or social hangover as you shift from busy gatherings back into your own rhythm—give yourself space to decompress and recalibrate. Be gentle with your mind and energy, and remember that rest, solitude, and quiet days are valid forms of recovery.
