Many patients are diagnosed through MRI performed for unrelated reasons. When symptoms do occur, they may include headaches behind the eyes, double vision, facial numbness, facial weakness, or hearing loss.

Did you know that 50% of children with permanent hearing loss have no apparent risk indicators? That’s why newborn hearing screenings are so important.

According to the Joint Committee on Infant Hearing, certain conditions may place infants at higher risk for hearing loss present at birth or developing later. However, many children with hearing loss have no obvious signs early on.

When no clear risk factors are identified, hearing loss is often genetic in origin. If your child is diagnosed with permanent hearing loss, a pediatric otologist can guide you through medical and genetic evaluations to better understand the cause and next steps.

Early detection leads to early intervention — and that makes all the difference in speech, language, and developmental outcomes.

If your child is at risk for hearing loss or is presenting symptoms of hearing loss, contact Dallas Ear to schedule your consultation in Fort Worth.
