It's November, do you know how you will keep your family healthy this winter? This month’s Mom’s Minute shares my 3 winter musts—and when virtual care can handle pink eye, rashes, and those bedtime cough questions fast.

Winter is quickly approaching........

It feels like one minute the kids are running through sprinklers, and the next, we're bundling them up for chilly mornings. Winter brings so many cozy moments, but it can also bring a few sniffles along with it. As a mom, I know how much we all want to keep our families feeling their best, so I wanted to share a few things that help in my own home.

Here are a few quick, simple things our family relies on when the weather turns cold. I swear by these 😂

Local Elderberry Syrup. We do not get any money to advertise these products, truly these are our favorites! We keep a big jug of elderberry syrup from the McKinney Elderberry Company (https://www.mckinneyelderberry.com/) in our fridge all season long (honestly we use all year long!). The moment anyone feels a little tickle in their throat, we start taking a small dose every 4-6 hours for the first couple of days and feel so much better.

Daily Immune Support. Consistency is key! My kids take MaryRuth's immune (https://www.maryruthorganics.com/products/kids-organic-immunity-gummies) gummies and their multivitamin every single day. It’s a simple routine, and (knock on wood!) it’s been years since we’ve had the flu in our house.

Finally, I teach my kids to wash hands as soon as they come in from school. Washing hands (and having hand sanitizer on hand) is the most effective way to reduce germ transmission.

The simple stuff still works. Never underestimate the power of the basics: making sure everyone gets enough sleep, encouraging frequent handwashing (especially after school!), running a humidifier at night to help with dry air, and keeping water bottles full.

Our virtual visits are perfect for many common kid concerns like colds, mild fevers, pink eye, rashes, and answering all those "Is this normal?" questions. We can assess your child’s symptoms, offer guidance, and send a prescription to your pharmacy if needed. Hello there, Happy Fall!

It’s been a busy, beautiful season — and I wanted to take a moment to check in personally and share some exciting updates!

This year alone, we’ve helped dozens of families get care faster and easier than ever before. More of my patients have been connecting with me virtually — from home, from work, or even from the ballfield (because yes, I’ve been traveling a lot for sports season myself 🥎⚾).

All of this reminded me why I started this practice in the first place — to make healthcare simple, personal, and accessible for everyone. While I still do house calls, the health care industry is shifting and we, as providers, have to adjust to the needs of families.

Healthcare is getting harder to access and more expensive by the day. Families are paying more and getting less — and when you need quick answers or a trusted face, the system often leaves you waiting.

That’s why I’m expanding our virtual options to meet you where you are — literally. Traditionally, patients have not used this feature much so I thought I would re-introduce you to this option when you are in a time crunch, or perhaps traveling (Yes! We and typically call in something to a local pharmacy where you are lodging).

If you have kids going off to college, we can help with their care virtually, all year long!

I have been quiet lately.....It’s been a minute—and I’ve missed connecting with you!

If you have been a part of the Mom’s Choice Mobile Healthcare community, I want to say thank you for your support. You helped build something special, and I’m so grateful for that.

Over the past few years, I’ve been quietly working on something new—while serving our most dedicated patients along the way. Something I believe could truly change lives.

I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and have been learning all that I can about how to reverse this complex illness. I started teaching other women how to do the same. Additionally, we started weight-loss consults and our patients have seen amazing results!

It got me to thinking about my pediatric patients who might benefit from similar programming.

Mom's Choice Mobile Healthcare cares about orphans. As you know, orphan care is very near and dear to our hearts as Stephanie and her husband, added to their family 4 years ago through adoption. We want to pay it forward and serve those children who are without families, this Christmas (December 27- January 3rd). Stephanie and her family, along with a team of 30 others will travel to El Salvador to serve children with a Christmas party, gifts, and a house! Yes, we will build a home for a local family in need. It will be a busy week full of cheer and spreading joy! We can not wait to serve and be the hands and feet of Jesus. This will be our very first family mission trip. His Hand His Feet (http://www.hishandshisfeet.org/our-story) is a non-profit organization that provides support and resources for orphaned children in El Salvador. We believe that every child deserves a loving and caring home, and we want to do our part in making that a reality.
