🌺 We've been taught to think of doctors as gods. They know our bodies better than we do. If we want to get better, we have to listen to their advice. They know the truth. We have learned to deny our own wisdom and to put ourselves solely in their hands. Sometimes this is the right choice, often it's not. We must change this pattern of ignoring what we know about our own body. We must take charge of our own health and stop denying that nagging feeling that something is wrong. Getting more than one opinion from medical doctors, alternative medicine practitioners and trusted healers and determining which course of action is best for you now is essential. Especially in this age of litigation, doctors depend more and more on tests that are often inaccurate and/or only tell part of the story. They often miss cancer until it is terminal. They choose to listen to the test rather than to the patient.

💐Between news stories filled with physical and verbal violence, fears about natural disasters, terrorism and wars on top of everyday fears related to work, family, money and health, it seems that fear and anxiety are only getting worse. People try to numb themselves with anti-depressants, anti-anxiety medications and addictions to everything from work to drugs to alcohol. Still people continue to experience panic attacks in increasing numbers and the new addiction to smart phones reduces real human interaction. It is possible to regain control and find peace by getting in touch with what Dean Sluyter calls our Infinite OKness. Through easy and natural meditation methods, people are learning how to stop, pay attention and with something as simple as a deep breath, feel and let their fears pass through. Add subtle tweaks of body, mind and voice and it is possible to feel more, fear less and find peace.

🪴 Plants have always held an important place in my heart. I grew up with them and never questioned their rightful place in my home and garden. When my mother was older and living in an apartment, she would lovingly grow African violets from leaves. She would line the fledgling plants up on her windowsill, and when they grew roots, she would plant them in pots and give them as gifts to her friends. It was as normal to have plants in my home as it was to have furniture, and it was equally normal to have plants on my patio and in my backyard garden. It was only later in life that I started to understand the spiritual meaning of plants. I learned about the importance of plants in feng shui and that talking to plants and playing jazz or classical music from 1-3 hours a day helps them grow better. Then research started to appear on the benefits of being around plants, like reduced stress, accelerated healing, and improved relationships, compassion, concentration, and memory. Flowers make us feel happier, secure, and relaxed. The positive energy emitted from plants and flowers improves people’s moods and helps prevent stress-related depression. There are also numerous benefits to having beautiful gardens in neighborhoods, like reduced crime and improved cohesiveness in the community. Even landscaping medians improve traffic safety and uplift the attitudes of drivers. Indigenous peoples have always known that plants possess a spirit essence that communicates through light, sound, and vibration. My guest works with plant consciousness to bring balance and healing by engaging our heart, soul, and spirit.

🦚We know a pregnant mother needs to provide healthy nourishment for the life growing inside of her. Just as important, however, is nourishing the fetus' nervous system with positive thoughts and words and the energy of love. An ultrasound video on YouTube shows a 14 week old fetus clapping in rhythm as the parents sing "If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands." We are influencing our children's development long before we had previously thought possible. We must start asking ourselves what messages we are conveying with our words and thoughts. We know that it's important to play Mozart to help the fetal brain develop. Emotional development is just as important. Dr. Brian Weiss showed that under hypnosis, a woman remembered word for word things said by a total stranger shortly after she was born. Our unconscious mind knows more than we think.

💫 ARCHANGEL💫

This week I am going to introduce you to Archangel Andronea who is the Archangel over self-care and self-love. Ask for her help daily in addition to whoever else you pray to in order to help you take care of yourself and love yourself.

Use your own words or say something like: Archangel Andronea, I give you permission in a positive way only to help me make healthy choices and stay away from destructive addictions and behaviors.

You can even be more specific and say something like: Archangel Andronea, I give you permission in a positive way only to help me set goals to manifest my dreams and live with gratitude and joy.

Pay attention to signs, synchronicity, and new information. This is a process, not an event. Trust that she is helping you--because she is.

🌿Attitude is everything. When someone asks you how old you are, do you cringe or do you proudly say, “I’m 69!”? Jackie chooses to be grateful for every day. She says: “I don’t give away any days.” It’s easy to give away our days to worry and fear. That response to adversity puts negative energy into our body and the Universe when what we need is hope, love, and light to raise our frequency. Jackie’s choice to embrace life at every age and in every circumstance is inspiring and uplifting, which is exactly what we all need right now.

🌈 TIP OF THE WEEK🌈

Attract Joy

Do this visualization at least 3 times: See your reflection, as if you’re looking into a mirror, and you’re filled with the colors of the rainbow. See yourself completely happy and full of light, love, joy, beauty, peace and contentment. Seeing yourself this way will help you become it.

Our right brain is the creative, unconscious part of our mind and it communicates in images. How we visualize ourselves helps to create who we are. If we see ourselves as sad, depressed, addicted, we reinforce a negative self-image that is hard to change. If we acknowledge that at times we may feel sad because it is part of being human, that’s very different than seeing ourselves as a sad person. One image allows us to experience the full range of human emotions without judging ourselves or characterizing ourselves as having only one dimension. It is healthier to see ourselves as basically happy with occasional feelings of sadness.

Most of us did not grow up in homes that taught us this concept or in a society that allows and even encourages the expression of emotions in healthy ways. Parents and teachers, for the most part, want children to be obedient, happy, and successful. It makes their job easier. They’re often over-worked and stressed with little time, interest or skill in dealing with the rough spots children encounter in growing up. The reality is that most of us have to figure it out on our own. One way to create a life filled with love and gratitude is to raise your vibration by creating your own joy. Visualize yourself the way you want to be. Do it often and it will become your reality. You can even draw pictures of yourself smiling, happy and with all the colors of the rainbow. Put the pictures on your mirror or places where you will see them often. Set your intention, create who you want to be, see it, and you will become it.

🌷 Addiction and healing are words that you rarely hear in the same sentence. Yet, when I spoke with Rabbi Paul Steinberg about being on the show, that's exactly what I heard. And he should know because it has been his personal journey. When someone knows something from the inside out, they can see things that those who only have an academic understanding cannot see. This has been my personal experience with healing from abuse, which is also an addiction. We know so much now about the power of the mind to heal, the strength of community, the healing power of prayer and the importance of feeling love from the spiritual realm. Although Rabbi Steinberg approaches healing from a Jewish perspective, he has many residential and out-patient clients who are not Jewish. They resonate with his perspective and get well because he has what is missing from other treatment centers and methodologies. We all know someone who is addicted.

🌼 Obesity has more than doubled since 1980. A shocking 39% of all adults are overweight according to the World Health Organization. The global percentages on obesity are multiplying at such a rapid rate that they currently rival world hunger. The problem in the United States continues to grow at an alarming rate. In 2012, The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported that 69% of all adults were overweight. Many people have tried to solve this problem. Whole industries have grown up around selling books, packaged meals and exercise programs, all different and all claiming to have research behind them guaranteeing success. The fact is that how much we weigh involves much more than what we put in our mouths and which exercise regimen we follow. It's also about what we put in our minds and in our hearts. Looking at weight from the perspective of wellness, is the missing piece needed to solve the puzzle.
