What helps what?! 💩 🪄
Hemorrhoids and or fissures can be some uncomfortable business. By the time my male pelvic floor patients actually show up to therapy, they’ve been struggling with issues for a while. Hemorrhoids and fissures can be caused by several issues, but two main issues I commonly see are:
🥗 Inadequate fiber intake
🙅🏽♂️ Tight pelvic floor muscles (sphincters)
If you haven’t started slowly working up to 25-30g fiber a day, I’d recommend starting there. I’d also recommend starting pelvic floor therapy with stretches like deep sumo squats, adductor rocks backs, happy baby, etc and then if you still find yourself struggling, a dilator may be in your future.
I love the dilators because they’re medical grade and silky. Always use water or oil based lubricants for silicone medical devices.
Dilator can be simple - the goal is to slowly insert the dilator while resting in a comfortable position and then rest with the dilator for 10-20 min ⏱️ if you have questions, you can always work directly with a pelvic floor therapist.
