Among adults aged 18 years or older with diagnosed diabetes in the United States:
- 19.8% were to***co users
- 13.8% reported current cigarette smoking.
- 37.1% had quit smoking but had a history of smoking at least 100 ci******es in their lifetime.

Smoking and to***co use, along with obesity, physical inactivity, high A1C, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol, are the biggest risk factors for diabetes-related complications.

Talk to your primary care doctor today about how your smoking habits can put you at risk for serious diabetic complications. Your doctor can work with you to design a treatment plan to help you stop smoking and reduce these risks!

June is National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month! Have you been eating your veggies? The CDC advises that U.S residents incorporate more fruits and vegetables into their diets in order to develop healthy dietary patterns. Meet Dr. John Fitzsimons!

Dr. Fitzsimons (we call him Dr. Fitz!) is a certified Interventional Radiologist with over 30 years experience in the medical field. He is affiliated with the American College of Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society, and Society of Interventional radiology. He also served in the United States Navy Reserve from 1991 to 1994, where he was awarded the Naval Defense Medal, Sea Service Ribbon and Active Duty Iran Conflict.

Dr. Fitzsimons is the Medical Director at Vascular Health Institute, and he has been on-staff at our office since 2019. He also performs all of the vascular procedures in our office-based procedure center, including angiograms, atherectomies, uterine fibroid embolization, varicose vein ablations and more.
