Intelligence doesn’t need to compete.

It needs room.

That’s what makes certain spaces different.

The Lunar New Year of the Fire Horse starts Feb. 17th. In honor of the occasion, we're going to dim sum favorite, Kirin Court in Richardson.
Dim sum primarily comes from Southern China,
specifically, Guangdong Province (Canton) and its capital, Guangzhou, as well as Hong Kong, where it evolved in teahouses as snacks for travelers along the Silk Road, becoming a signature part of Cantonese cuisine known for delicate, bite-sized dishes. While Cantonese style is most famous, other regions like Shanghai (with soup dumplings) and Sichuan also have unique dim sum traditions.
As usual, RSVPs are forcefully requested, but not required. Karen Brack, kwbrack18@gmail.com, 214.477.1151.

Looking for a place to eat great dim sum? Kirin Court in Dallas, Texas has the best Dim Sum in town!

Taco y Vino

Taco y Vino, the award-winning innovative gourmet taqueria and casual wine bar, has an almost cult-like following. Its combination of good food and wine at low prices made it an instant favorite. Especially popular is their nightly special, six tacos of your choice and a bottle of wine for $50. Three tacos are $15. Taco fillings range from cochinita pibil, chicken tinga and pork carnitas to ahi tuna, tempura catfish or shrimp and fried avocado. There are several vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. And they've got more than tacos on the menu, such as a seafood stuffed jalapeno, ceviche, avocado "toastadas" (gluten free) and quesobirria.

In addition to street parking, there is an unpaved parking lot behind the restaurant. Parties of 6 or more won't be given separate checks, so be prepared. As always MADEATS congenially requests, but doesn't require, that you RSVP if coming. Karen Brack: kwbrack18@gmail.com, 214.477.1151.

The Brain Gain Challenge – Mensa Region 6 Contest Announcement

To help spark new ideas (and a little friendly competition), I’m excited to introduce The Brain Gain Challenge for Region 6 local groups.

This challenge is all about creativity—groups can choose to focus on growing membership or engaging current members. Clever ideas, thoughtful ex*****on, and real results are the goal.
Ready to boost your group’s momentum?

Region 6 local groups are invited to participate in The Brain Gain Challenge, a creative competition focused on either growing membership or engaging current members. Groups may choose which path fits their goals—both matter.
Any format is welcome: in-person, virtual, social media, email, printed materials, partnerships, or something entirely new. This challenge isn’t about budget or group size—it’s about creativity, ex*****on, and impact.

Each participating group will submit a brief summary (to me via email or messenger) describing what they did, why they chose the idea, how it was executed, and the results achieved. Results are required, and photos must be included with submissions.
Entries will be evaluated on originality, engagement, ex*****on, and outcomes. Multiple groups may be recognized, and winners will be announced in April. Prizes include bragging rights and a $250 Grand Prize to the winning group. Judges will include a locsec outside of Region 6, another RVC, and me!

This is your chance to try something new, energize your members, and inspire other groups across Region 6. Start brainstorming because great ideas deserve to be seen and shared!

I can’t wait to see what you all create!
