In Spring,especially, I’m amazed at nature’s plan.

I worried that the heavy rains this week would knock off the fruit blossoms. They only opened more. 🤍

I wondered if in the cool the bees would come to pollinate, and the warmer days have them buzzing 🐝 around the blooms.

It doesn’t always work out right, of course. When it does (most of the time) we get to eat fruits and veggies and pick pretty flowers. And the joy along the way fills the soul ♥️

The tree pictured is our Brooks Prune. There were many orchards years ago in our part of the Willamette Valley. In fact, the land our house is on was a Brooks orchard. We were lucky enough to have one of the original orchard trees which we babied and enjoyed for many years. This tree is about 5 years old and gives amazing fruit in the fall.

Have you noticed the goo that seeps from the stems of daffodils?

When you put daffodils with other flowers, such as tulips, that secretion can cause other flowers to wilt.

A simple solution is to allow the cut daffodils to sit on their own in water for 12 or more hours, then rinse the stems and add to a mixed bouquet. 💐 Just be sure not to cut the stems again after soaking.

I stopped at our state capitol last week before running errands for just a few minutes of blossom beauty 🌸

Luckily I beat the afternoon rain shower, and while it was cool and breezy I was reminded that it is so worth making an effort to seek out beauty and joy.

I love to bake. I love to eat what I bake. I love chocolate.

So when the current diet plan doesn’t include dairy and added sugar is discouraged you become very thankful for the creative people out there who share recipes.

I’ll be cooking carrots and mashing bananas to hold together the cocoa powder. Wish me luck! 😉
