Does anyone else get excited about Christmas lights?

I think they are one of the happiest things, especially in the dark days of winter!

May the little joys warm your heart ♥️

Nature soothes my soul.

As part of my slow down plan I went for a walk in nature

Alone, I took my time. Stopping to look up. And down. To find the bird singing in the tree. To feel the mosses.

I watched the trees sway slowly.

So good 💚

First batch of Christmas Cookies!

These are a family favorite, pfeffernuese (or peppernuts). They are perfect with a cup of coffee or tea, very satisfying on a winter day.

And definitely a labor of love ❤️

Does your family have a holiday cookie favorite?

LESSONS from a SNOWMAN...

* Embrace the seasons of life - change isn't scary; it's how we grow
* Stay cool under pressure - stress is temporary peace is forever.
* Take life one snowflake at a time - small steps lead to big things.
* Don't be afraid to melt and start over - sometimes you need to rebuild to become your best self
* Be proud of the magic you bring to the world - YOU are someone's sparkle.
* Even the smallest details can make you special - the little things matter most!

Snowmen are a reminder that life melts.. but the beauty is in what we build while we're here! ❄️💞

Chocolate, candy canes…what’s your favorite holiday sweet?

We’ve had an incredible amount of rain this week with the “atmospheric rivers.”

Focusing on what I could do rather than what I couldn’t (anything outside, of course) helped me enjoy my day! Lesson to self- what you focus on has a big effect!

Each part of this one day, from baking bread to delivering BeeSimple to my school’s office brought me joy. Each little event was little but they added up to happiness. 🙂

How to you enjoy bad weather days?

“Hear! Hear!” screamed the Jay from a neighboring tree, where I had heard a tittering for some time, “Winter has a concentrated and nutty kernel, if you know where to look for it.”

Just checking in….

How are your holiday plans coming along?

Presents? (I’m set!)

Decorating? (Not a thing here…still looking at turkeys on the mantle. Oh well 🌲)

🐝 Bumblebee Queens Sleep Beneath the Soil in Winter
Right now, next year’s pollinators are resting under leaf litter and in pockets of earth. Disturbing the ground can destroy entire colonies before spring.

• Most queens overwinter just below the soil
• Many shelter in leaf piles or tall grass
• They emerge in late April–May to start a new hive

🍂 Let leaves stay.
🚫 Skip the blower.
🌱 Delay raking and mowing until spring warms.

A quiet yard now means a buzzing garden later. Protect the queens — everything blooms because of them!
