The crow and I have been friends for several years now. He (I’m guessing) and his mate have recently returned from wherever they winter. I like to imagine it’s a lovely spot 😉

This morning he was waiting in my lawn when I return a morning walk to let me know it was breakfast time.

I leave a couple of walnut pieces on the bird bath. Often I watch and wait and miss the pick up moment.

I think we are entering a new level of closeness as he stayed close the whole time.

Not sure why, but I’ve just called him “Crow Friend.” Please help me choose a name for my sweet crow!

When I went out to open my greenhouse in the morning I noticed this sweet bumble walking.

I dashed into the house for some sugar water and plain water, but that’s not what she wanted.

Bumblebees are solitary bees and nest in the ground (a great reason to leave sticks and leaves alone in the fall, for their protection!

Generally you’ll see them before honeybees in the spring as they can withstand cooler temps, around 50F.

My guess is that she flew into the greenhouse the day before when it was warm from the sun, spent the night, and was having a slow morning.

After a few minutes on my hand she suddenly flew up and out!

They say that bees can remember faces. I hope she finds me again to say hello! 💛

Ps. My best guess is that this is a female Bombus Flavifrons. If you have ID knowledge and want to chime in that would be appreciated!

I just adore these Japanese pansies!

I’ve had some blooming in my unheated greenhouse through the winter, which brings me so much joy!

Thank you for these beautiful flowers!

Do you think they know how beautiful they are?! 💕
