is Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery and Otolaryngology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is a Board Certified Neurosurgeon and a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Barnett specializes in the treatment of brain tumors, skull base lesions and other complex intracranial problems, including meningiomas, acoustic neuromas and pituitary tumors. Dr. Barnett performs advanced surgical techniques including minimally invasive endoscopic endonasal surgery, complex skull base approaches and stereotactic radiosurgery

He is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, and completed his undergraduate degree at Indiana University in Bloomington. He received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed his neurosurgery residency at UT Southwestern and then a fellowship in skull base and cerebrovascular neurosurgery at the University of South Florida under the direction of Harry R. van Loveren, M.D. Prior to joining the faculty at UT Southwestern, Dr. Barnett was Assistant Professor and Director of Cerebrovascular Neurosurgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He was recruited to UT Southwestern for his expertise in skull base surgery.

Amazing procedure. Walter Kutz, MD and I have performed several auditory brainstem implants at UT Southwestern for adults and hope to begin a program for children in the near future.

The mother of a deaf boy says he can now hear the "birds sing" following experimental brain surgery performed in Southern California.

It was an honor to participate in Match Day. Congratulations to Aaron and OJ from UTSW and Chen from NYU. I look forward to working with them.

Surrounded by exuberant classmates, family and friends in the gymnasium of the Bryan Williams, M.D. Student Center, 234 graduating medical students at UT Southwestern found out precisely at 11 a.m. on March 20 where they will begin their careers as doctors. As part of the annual Match Day tradition here and across the country, each student opened an envelope to see the name of the residency program where they were accepted, signifying where they would launch their medical careers.
