Self-compassion tip:

Talk to yourself the way you would speak to someone you love. You deserve the same grace you give to others.

Gentle.
Patient.
Understanding.

n this video, I discuss something many people do not realize: anxiety and depression can sometimes be connected to medical issues.

Not every mood shift is “just stress.” Not every anxious feeling is purely emotional. Thyroid disorders, hormonal changes, vitamin deficiencies, autoimmune conditions, chronic illness, sleep disturbances, and even certain medications can affect mood and energy levels.

As a licensed psychotherapist, I believe in looking at the whole person. Mental health and physical health are connected. If your symptoms feel sudden, intense, or different than usual, it may be worth speaking with your primary care provider and requesting lab work.

This video is not about replacing therapy or medical care. It is about increasing awareness so you can advocate for yourself.

If you found this helpful, subscribe for more practical insights on emotional wellness, relationships, and managing pressure in everyday life.

Let me be clear:

If you don't prioritize self-care, life will unfortunately push you toward a breakdown. Our society glorifies exhaustion, celebrating overwork and overcommitment, but this only leads to fatigue and burnout.

Self-care is more than just bubble baths; it requires wisdom and discipline. It means recognizing your limits, getting enough rest, staying hydrated, attending medical appointments, and knowing when to say no.

It's essential to step back before resentment builds up and exhaustion sets in. You can't give your best when you're empty, and you shouldn't have to break down to see this. Commit to self-care now, not when you hit your breaking point.

Matthew 11:28 reminds us of something we often forget when life gets heavy:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Some seasons will stretch you. Responsibilities pile up. People need you. Deadlines don’t pause. Caregiving, work, family, health—it can feel like you are carrying everything at the same time.

But you were never meant to carry everything by yourself.

Jesus offers rest—not just physical rest, but rest for your mind, your heart, and your spirit. He invites you to pause and realign.

So today, give yourself permission to slow down.
Take a deep breath.
Pray.
Discern what you can control and release what you cannot control.
Rest in God’s presence.

You don’t have to prove your strength by carrying it all.
There is wisdom in surrender.

Last week a professional tennis player smashed her racket after a tough loss. When reporters asked about it, she didn’t hide, deflect, or blame anyone. She said plainly: I was frustrated and angry at myself. Then she added something powerful—she’d rather take that emotion out on a racket than on the people around her who didn’t deserve it.

As a therapist, I paid attention to that moment. She did three healthy things in real time:
• She acknowledged what she felt instead of pretending she was “fine.”
• She named the emotion without shaming herself.
• She chose an outlet that didn’t wound another human being.

Emotions aren’t the problem. Unmanaged emotions are. We’re all going to feel disappointed, embarrassed, angry, or defeated at times. The goal isn’t to be emotionless—it’s to be emotionally honest and responsible with how we release what’s inside.

There’s a lesson here for all of us: feel it, own it, and express it in a way that protects your relationships and your integrity. A racket can be replaced. Words and broken trust are much harder to repair.

Growth isn’t about never losing your cool. It’s about learning how to handle the heat. 😊
