Monday, we’re comin’ in a bit HAWT with the Mini MTHD. for the week.
We’ll save you from the awkward google search and send you in the direction of some solid literature we had the chance to look over this weekend! We’re talkin s*x today and how it is an activity that requires the crosstalk between three different systems within your physiology! A question usually stops people on an intake form or in a clinic meeting because how and why does that relate to anything to do with an appointment with an Exercise Physiologist….. Let’s get to it.
Mollaioli et al. published a Review in the Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology in February 2020 that pulled in data from just under 120 peer reviewed literature that helped better describe how healthy and unhealthy lifestyles impact differently on male and female s*xual function. The correlation of modifiable factors and outcomes/prevelance rates of s*xual disfunction are absolutely something to be interested in, why? Because there are things that we can do to help!
With an understanding of what the effect (some positive and some detrimental) of seven different recreational drugs, physical activity, changes in body composition and stress management can do to both male and female s*xual function can help create balance in s*xual health.
