💜 February Purple Plate Dinner 💜

If you have a loved one dealing with Dementia or Alzheimer’s, Dementia Friendly Susquehanna Valley, along with the help of local businesses and other advocates in the community, has been organizing “Purple Plate” dinners. Those dealing with memory diseases, their loved ones, caregivers, and advocates are all invited.

People who may not normally feel comfortable going out to eat at a restaurant are welcomed with patient servers and quiet seating. Also, friends on a limited budget are met with a generous fixed-price menu. See menu below ⬇️

Turkey Hill Brewing Company has teamed up with Dementia Friendly Susquehanna Valley to host the Purple Plate Dinner on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm.

Q: What's your connection with dementia?
A: I am the founder and speech-language pathologist at Brighter Pathways Speech & Swallowing Services, LLC. We provide speech and swallowing services, focusing on evidence-based practices and patient-centered care, to improve the quality of life for individuals on the dementia journey.

Q: When did you become a Dementia Friends Champion?
A: After attending a 1-hour Dementia Information Session in 2021, I was inspired to share this valuable information with my community and change how others view dementia.

Q: What do you wish more people knew about dementia?
A: I wish people knew that it's possible to have a good quality of life with dementia and that a diagnosis doesn't define who you are.

Q: What have you accomplished or hope to accomplish as a Dementia Friends Champion?
A: As a Dementia Friends Champion, I’ve shared crucial information with local dementia support groups, loved ones, and care partners in my clinic, helping them at all stages of the journey.

Q: What is your favorite section of the Dementia Friends Information Session? And why?
A: My favorite section is The Bookcase Story. It's one of the first videos I share with clients and their loved ones because it’s easy to understand and illustrates how emotions and feelings can last longer than thinking skills and memories.

Q: What are two fun facts about you?
A: I love riding the Rails to Trails throughout PA and spending time in my flower and vegetable garden.
