Praying for Baby Nathan Moran

Praying for Baby Nathan Moran This page was created to support the family of Baby Nathan who has been diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma. He is in intensive therapy to learn to walk and talk.

click here to read Nathans story.http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/nathanmoran/mystory Nathan was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma in 2009, it is a rare soft muscle solid tumor (a childhood cancer) His tumor originated in his spine and traveled down his spinal nerves and wrapped back into the front of his pelvis. He has endured 43 weeks of chemotherapy, 28 days radiation and spinal resection to remove tumor from his spine. He has been left permanently disabled from his tumor with paralyzed feet and ankles. His chemotherapy has caused him to have delayed speech. The tumor also caused him to have a sphincter deficiency and he will have to have a future surgery when he is three years old to put a band around his bladder. We appreciate all prayers and support through this journey.

Nathan got through the last 6 days like a champ. Surgery went well. Tumor is removed. Spine is all fused. He is doing really good and is discharged from the hospital and nit complaining of anymore pain. He is just getting better every day. Thank you to everyone that has helped is and prayed for us. Having to pay for somewhere to stay six days snd buying food in the hospital is not cheap. We are very thankful for all the help and very grateful.

This handsome guy has his preop labs and check up today. Surgery is tomorrow. Remember to pray for him and his recovery. They are removing the tumor from his spine and removing his L4 & L5 vertebrae and discs and joints. He will then have replacements put in and this will be from L3 to S1 . I told him he is going to be a bionic man before he turns 18.
If you want to gift Nathan while he is in the hospital you can at $Kristinmoran75 that will go directly to Nathan for his Robux and whatever satisfies his heart ❤️ He will be in the ICU the first night and expected to stay several days to a week. Nathan is pretty amazing, so, I am praying he will recover quickly. Pray for my nerves because this surgery has me pretty anxious. I even discussed trying to put it off, but Nathan said, "let's get it done. " He's the boss.

Nathan will be having the tumor removed and a very invasive spinal resection done on November 5th. Please be in prayer for Nathan and his surgical team. Please pray and donate to his Healthcare journey if you feel led to do so. He will be inpatient following the surgery and then of course traveling after to see his specialists following a long recovery. His hospital is 263 miles, but he has to see Pediatric Specialists.

If every person would donate $1 it will really add up. We want to purchase some things for Nathan that would really lift him up when he's in the hospital recovering. This money also offsets expenses traveling, having food at the hospital, bills while out of work, and to purchase things for Nathan. He needs new socks which are $25 per pair. His shoes run $100/$150 per pair. Our travel for each trip is 263 miles. Of course we work and pay for everything as needed, but imagine thos extra expense on your own family. We are so thankful for everyone who continues to donate to Nathan. He has had a long journey. Unfortunately, he will most likely always have health issues from his cancer and treatment.

Nathan went to uva today to see his neurosurgeon. He will have surgery November 5th for the removal of the tumor in his spine. They will do a fusion from L3 to S1 and it will be a lengthy all day spinal surgery according to his surgeon. He will be in the Pediatric ICU following the surgery until he can be moved down depending on his pain tolerance and mobility etc. He is experiencing sharp, electric nerve pains behind his right knee from the tumor on those sacral nerves. Please be in prayer over Nathan and his surgeons. This is a lengthy surgery with two neurosurgeons overseeing this operation. He will have a very long recovery. However, it is growing and must be removed.

Nathan will go back to uva September 15th to meet with the neurosurgeon again to discuss the tumor removal and spinal reconstruction. Please be in prayer over this surgery.

Nathan's CT scan results were not at all what we had hoped. His neurosurgeon has reached out to several spinal specialists to come together to try to make the best treatment plan for Nathan. He has progressive severe spinal deformity. If he was not paralyzed already, he would be in horrendous pain according to the neurosurgeon. However, this has created complications in deciding a plan to remove the tumor. The tumor is also still growing. It was larger in this imaging. There were two other places that I am waiting on oncology to get back to me about that were seen previously on the PET scan and those have also increased in size. If you would remember Nathan's healing in your prayers.

CT of spine and orthopedic follow up. He had his braces adjusted and we just have to wait to hear from neurosurgery. The screws looked good from the foot surgery in July. His orthopedic surgeon was pleased. It has been a very long day at UVA.
If you feel led to donate to Nathan you may do so on his gofundme or at $Kristinmoran75 for travel, and expenses.

I just wanted to let everyone know that Nathan is heading nicely fron his orthopedic surgery. He will see his orthopedic surgeon again on July 28th and then have a CT of his spine on August 21st to determine the tumor removal and reconstruction on his spine. Please continue to keep him in your prayers and please continue to share his gofundme link.
This helps greatly with travel expenses as his hospital is 263 miles. This also covers medical supplies not covered by insurance for Nathan. We are so thankful for our community, family and friends who continue to pray and support Nathan.
