✨ 103 Years Young & Still Finding Joy ✨
We recently had the honor of sitting down with one of our incredible residents as she celebrates 103 years of life today—and her wisdom, warmth, and gratitude left us truly inspired.🤍
💛 On her favorite memories:
“Honestly, I’m just lucky to have my family around for all my birthdays. So really… every birthday is a great memory.”
👶 Her first job:
She began working at a young age, caring for a two-year-old boy in Detroit. What started as childcare quickly turned into cooking, housekeeping, and helping wherever she was needed—proof she’s been hardworking from the very beginning.
🌱 Her secret to a long life:
“Just working all my life, enjoying life, and keeping a good attitude. I’ve had hard things happen… my mother passed when I was 13, so I had to take care of my siblings. It wasn’t always easy, but I made the best of it.”
😊 What makes her smile every day:
“Just being alive. I enjoy puzzles and activities here—I try to keep my mind going. I always find something to smile about.”
👨👩👧👦 What family means to her:
“They’ve always been there when I need them. I FaceTime my son in Atlanta every night, talk to my other son weekly, and I don’t know what I’d do without Nadine. My husband worked hard, and we put all three kids through college without loans. We gave up some things—but I’d do it all over again."
🤍 What makes a good friend:
“Being there. Listening. Knowing each other’s problems without judgement.”
🎂 On being 103:
“I don’t feel much different… it feels about the same as turning 101.”
🌍 Life in one word:
“Enjoyable. Being alive is a joy. Everyone’s life is different—and that’s what makes it special.”
💃 A sweet bonus:
She met her husband, Hubert, at a USO dance—and yes, she still remembers what a wonderful dancer he was.
✨ 103 years of resilience, love, hard work, and joy. What an inspiration. ✨
