There were lots of smiles and tails wagging when we visited the Friends of the Pet Adoption Center. Nancie bonded with a cute black-and-white cat, and Audrey said she thought the dogs just needed a good home. Kurt said the bunnies looked very healthy, in his professional opinion. We definitely wanted to load the bus up with pets before we left!

We love dogs at Barathaven! Did you know the residents make homemade dog treats!?!?! These Bow Wow Biscuits are a blend of nutritious ingredients with a delicious peanut butter flavor. How do we know they’re delicious? Check out River the dog trying one for the first time!

Each time you bring your dog to visit at Barathaven, just stop by the front desk where your dog can get a Bow Wow Biscuit!

A big thank you to all of our Barathaven veterans for their service to our country. We appreciate you Danny, Jerry, Ed, Norbert, Allen, Harry, and Jim. Some of our ladies made beautiful cards to show their appreciation to the men.

Thanks also to the ladies from Solace Hospice for the heartwarming program, and the pins, cake, and certificates. River the dog even came with them to bring lots of puppy love! We also appreciate Suncrest Hospice for the beautiful coins each veteran received.

We need to start a bowling team! These residents had a “ball” bowling at cavespringslanes !! Several have played on teams in the past, and have even bowled some 300 games! Jerry said it felt good to be back on the lanes. 🎳

Thanks to the staff for being so welcoming and helping us to have such a good time!

It got a little spooky as we enjoyed Halloween at Barathaven! Chef Carrissa and the kitchen staff prepared some ghoulishly good snacks, and the music of Mike Chrismer was perfect for singing along! The winners of our pumpkin contest were… Most Unique Pumpkin: Jennifer and Dorothy, Most Creative Pumpkin: Marilyn W and Patti, Scariest Pumpkin: Jim Bohn, and Best Pumpkin: Jeff and Vicki R!!!

Happy 100th Birthday to Dorothy! Family and friends came to join us in celebrating her big day. A family member made a photo slide show of Dorothy through the years, her son read the story of her life, and she even received a letter from the Governor!

We put the call out to gather 100 birthday cards for her, but Dorothy actually received OVER 200 CARDS! Thank you to our Barathaven community for sending in cards and spreading the word in order to help make Dorothy’s day special! She will be opening up cards for a long time!
We love you, Dorothy!
