Breathing through contractions isn’t just a coping tool; it’s a reminder that God is there, getting you through the intensity one wave at a time.

Each slow inhale is a reminder:
God designed your body with intention.
Each long exhale says:
I trust the process He created.

When fear rises, breathing brings you back to truth.
You are not out of control.
You are not alone.
Your body was made for this work.

Loose jaw. Soft shoulders. Long exhale.
Grace for this contraction.
Strength for the next.

Labor does not always go as expected &
birth does not always go as planned

Sometimes our plans have to change for factors we cannot control

Whenever this happens, it makes me think of how God works in our lives

We think we have a perfect plan and think we are in control, and something different happens

Not always better, but different

Years later, we may understand why he allowed what he did to happen

But we also may never understand

And that’s where faith comes in

God is ALWAYS in control. We can plan every detail, but God is the One guiding each moment. We can labor with comfort knowing our birth story is in His hands.

Have you ever heard the phrase "it takes a village?"
Well, these "villages" have been few and far between lately and postpartum depression is at an all-time high.

But.. how can YOU help? Great question!
If you know anyone in their postpartum season, whether a close friend, family member, co-worker, someone from church, etc., there are ways to help! Even if its something that seems small, I assure you it will make that mom feel less alone and more valued.

Here are some ways YOU can help:
If you don't know them well...
-Drop off meal off at their door
-Drop off a care package for them
-Offer to pickup their grocery order
-Send gift cards/venmo for your local coffee shop, doordash, etc.
-A month subscription to a streaming service or audible
-Send them a text telling them you are praying for them/thinking about them (even this means so much!)

If you know them well...
-Offer to come play with their other children so they can have time to bond with baby
-Do their dishes (so many bottle parts to clean!)
-Do their laundry
-Offer to come hold the baby so they can shower or nap
-Mow their lawn
-Pay for an hour of help from a postpartum doula
-Offer to bring coffee and keep her company (adult conversation is a life changer!)
-Check up on how they are doing, not just the first weeks, but the first months (& beyond!)

Genesis Doula Co. is now offering birth planning sessions! This is for moms who want to make a personalized birth plan and want help going through each part of the birth plan so they are well informed what they want for their birth.

Birth Planning Session Includes:

-A one-on-one birth planning consultation (available in person or
virtually)

-Step-by-step guidance through each section of a birth plan

-Education on options for labor, birth, and immediate
postpartum care

-Discussion of the benefits, risks, and alternatives of common
interventions

-Support in identifying personal values, preferences, and
priorities for birth

-Creation of a personalized, well-informed birth plan

-Evidence-based resources provided during the session and
shared afterward via email or in print

-Dedicated time for questions, discussion, and clarity.

This session costs $100.

I am SO excited to announce that I am currently working on my Postpartum Doula and Lactation Specialist certifications! My heart is for working with moms postpartum just as much as it is to help them during the labor and birth process, so I am looking forward to adding these services!
