Five Quickies

1. If a locked door or window in your house is suddenly open, leave. Do not investigate.

2. If you think someone is inside your home, don't search. Leave quietly and call the police.

3. If a stranger knows personal details about you, assume it's intentional.

4. If an elevator stops between floors, never climb out. It can restart immediately.

5. If your car is sinking, unbuckle and escape immediately while it's still floating.

2). If you hear footsteps behind you (especially at night), change directions or enter a public place.

3). If you feel watched or unsafe, trust it. Many victims sensed it first.

4). If a child goes suddenly silent around others, it may be a distress signal.

5). If someone asks you to keep secrets from family, that's a red flag.

*Confidence is more effective at deterring danger than physical strength

*Never tell anyone that you're alone

*Never let someone walk too closely behind you

*Don't allow anyone to block your way to an exit

*Use reflections (like windows, mirrors, etc.) to scan your surroundings

*Have at the ready a self-defense weapon (pepper spray, stun gun or keychain)

Safety Tips Women Should Follow

1. Put the phone down & lock your doors immediately

2. Do not walk with ear pods at full volume

3. Stay near exits

4. Always check under & behind your car

5. Observe who's observing you

6. If something feels off, it usually is

7. Never tell a stranger where you are or where you're going

8. Change your routine, don't be predictable

9. Keep your dominant hand free at all times

10. Trust your intuition even if it feels rude to do so

11. Walk with confidence & purpose

12. Avoid sharing your location on social media in real time

13. If someone is following you, go to a crowded well-lit area--DO NOT GO HOME

14. Know where your exits are whenever you enter a room

15. Your safety is more important than being polite
