Today was Craft Day —
a soft spill of color and conversation.
Brushes dipped and danced,
spreading sunshine yellows and sky blues.
Butterflies bloomed in gentle strokes,
little chicks came to life
in tiny bursts of gold.
We painted, we laughed,
we let the afternoon unfold
in swirls of creativity and quiet joy. 🎨✨

The thrill of victory was alive and shining bright today at our ICG 2026 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony! 🏅❄️
For the past two weeks, our residents have competed with heart, determination, and incredible sportsmanship across four exciting Olympic events. If you ask me, every single one of them is a champion!
Today, we gathered in true Olympic spirit to celebrate their achievements and award the medals of gold, silver, and bronze. Cheers echoed, smiles beamed, and pride filled the room as each competitor was honored for their hard work and dedication.
As all great Olympic journeys do, ours came to a ceremonious close. After the final medals were presented, we gathered together to extinguish the flaming torch — a symbolic moment marking the end of our Winter Games. Our grand Olympic rings and torch will now be carefully packed away until we reunite for the ICG Summer Olympics.
A heartfelt thank you to every resident who stepped forward to compete. The participation numbers were outstanding, and the energy was contagious! It was truly inspiring to see so many athletes give their all.
But perhaps the most unforgettable part of these past two weeks was the spirit of unity. Watching residents cheer one another on, celebrating victories big and small, was nothing short of heartwarming. That camaraderie is the true gold medal.
Until next time, Olympians — the flame may be out, but the spirit continues to burn bright! 🔥✨

Today, we were delighted to welcome the Illiopolis Kitchen Band, and they truly brought the fun with them! From the moment they began, the room was filled with laughter, music, and smiles.
They entertained us with hilarious skits, clever jokes, and toe-tapping songs that had everyone fully engaged. Their unique mix of instruments — old-fashioned washboards, flutes, jingling bells, whistles, and more — added a charming, playful touch to every performance. 🥁🎵
The residents enjoyed every minute, laughing along at the funny skits and witty jokes. It was impossible not to smile! Their creativity and energy kept everyone’s attention from start to finish.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the band for spending time with us and giving us such a wonderfully fun and memorable afternoon. Your talent, humor, and joyful spirit truly made our day! 💛👏

Today marked our final event of the 2026 ICG Winter Olympics, and what a bittersweet ending it was. We wrapped things up with an exciting skee-ball challenge that brought out so many of our residents, all ready to contend for the win. The competition was fierce from the very first roll!
The excitement kept building as we found ourselves in a four-way tie for silver, followed by a three-way tie for bronze. Then came a nail-biting two-way tie before we finally had our champion. In the end, Paula claimed the gold, Rene earned silver, and Mary Sue took home the bronze. Every round was filled with cheers, laughter, and just the right amount of suspense.
On a personal note, these past two weeks have meant more to me than I can fully express. Competing alongside our residents during our Olympics has been such a joy. They are truly some of the sweetest, most sportsmanlike people I know. The way they cheered one another on and celebrated each other’s victories was beautiful to witness.
While I’m a little sad to see our Olympics come to an end, my heart is full. I feel incredibly blessed to be here at ICG, surrounded by such wonderful residents who make every event unforgettable.
Friday will be our closing ceremony with medals handed out.

Today we were blessed with the sweetest visit from Paw Print Ministries’ beloved pup, Jovie, and her wonderful mom, Carol.
Jovie is truly the sweetest girl — gentle, loving, and so full of warmth. She happily let everyone shower her with love, and it honestly felt like she just knew exactly what each person needed. Whether it was a quiet cuddle, a soft nuzzle, or simply her calming presence, Jovie shared her heart so freely.
Carol and Jovie brought so much joy, comfort, and light into our day. We are incredibly thankful for the love they shared with us. Thank you, Carol and sweet Jovie, for such a special visit — we already can’t wait to see you again. 🐾💕
