Patient Advocacy is sooooo important... I am in the healthcare field, but I am also a patient first. I just had to switch to a different Primary Care doctor because of being Misdiagnosed...Hypomagnesmia with onset Lymphedema. NOT Arthritis!!! I knew from 7 years of being a student and very active that I did not have arthritis, but I even told the doctor what my diagnosis was... My lower extremities were turning purple, and my legs were warm to the touch and inflamed. Other signs told me that this was what I thought. I looked up the symptoms of hypomagnesemia, and I had every one of them. I am doing my Internship for Health Information Technology at Richland Community College and getting my Master of Science in Nutrition Education. I do not have an MD behind my name, but I knew it wasn't what he said it was. I went to a neurology specialist and was diagnosed with what I said, Hypomagnesemia with onset Lymphedema!!!
