Tammy Thornton, age 68, of Decorah, Iowa, formerly of St. Lucas, Iowa, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her family after a long, courageous 5-year battle with cancer.

Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the Winneshiek County Fairgrounds Community Building, 900 E Main St, Decorah, IA 52101, with a Celebration of Life to follow the memorial service from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Pizza & Refreshments will be served at the Celebration of Life.

A portion of Tammy’s ashes will be buried at Phelps Cemetery in a private service at a later date. The remaining ashes will be spread with her parents and sisters at St. Lucas Catholic Cemetery and Kalona Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the family to help fulfill Tammy’s final wish: bringing a Christmas light display to life in Phelps Park—a project already in progress and close to her heart.

Caryl Lee Sharp, 86, of Decorah, formerly Spring Valley, MN, passed away at Highland Place (Aase Haugen) under Hospice care on February 9, 2026.

A remembrance service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at The Senior Citizens Hospitality Center, 806 River Street, Decorah, Iowa, with a celebration of life to follow until 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Russell Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations and memorials may be sent to the family in memory of Caryl or the Russell Cemetery.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Calmar Lutheran Church, 200 East Street, Calmar, Iowa. Burial will be in the Calmar City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Calmar Lutheran Church. There will be no visitation before the service on Wednesday morning at the church. Please come in and be seated.

Darlene Agnes (Bulgren) Schwamman, 90, formerly of St. Lucas, Iowa, died Friday, March 13, 2026, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at St. Luke Catholic Church, Saint Lucas, Iowa, with Father Nicholas Radloff presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at St. Luke Catholic Church, Saint Lucas, IA. Also, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the family for a memorial to be set up at a later time.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Faith Home Assisted Living and Faith Lutheran Home for their dedicated care of Darlene in her final years.

Mark Goulson, age 73, of Decorah, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Ossian Care Center, after a brief, acute illness, preceded by a lifetime of battling ailments that devastated his physical body but never his vast intellect.

No formal services are planned at this time.
