This week is National Healthcare Access Personnel Week!

Please join us in recognizing our staff in the Main Entrance Registration, ER Registration, and Access Management teams. These areas aspire to provide excellence by assisting callers, gathering accurate demographic and insurance information, efficiently checking in patient visits, promptly scheduling appointments, easing the concerns of patients and visitors in a caring and efficient manner, and supporting care teams on a variety of requests. Not only do we appreciate them, but so do our patients!

WinnMed is pleased to welcome Cole Puffer, M.D., to its medical team. Joining the practice the end of April, Dr. Puffer provides family medicine care for patients of all ages in the clinical setting and serves as a hospitalist, caring for inpatients during their hospital stay.

Dr. Puffer spent his undergraduate years in Decorah where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Luther College. He went on to medical school at the University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth Campus prior to moving to the west coast for a family medicine residency through Cascades East Family Medicine Residency, Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Since completion, he has provided clinical and inpatient medical care through Sky Lakes Medical Center, alongside his teaching responsibilities for OHSU. Dr. Puffer is certified with the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Puffer returns to Decorah with his wife – originally from Decorah and a fellow Luther College alum - and their daughter. His medical interests include health policy and health systems work, community health and wellness, pediatric care, education, and preventive medicine.

WinnMed is seeking a dedicated Surgery RN to join our growing Surgery Department. Full-time or part-time opportunities are available with a primarily weekday schedule (Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.), with occasional earlier start times based on case load. This position includes an on-call rotation (approximately one night per week and every 6th–7th weekend, plus holiday call).
