Our WinnMed Ambulance department has been recognized by the American Heart Association with their Mission: Lifeline EMS® Silver Achievement Award.

Mission: Lifeline EMS® is the American Heart Association's national initiative to advance the system of care for patients with high-risk, time-sensitive disease states, such as severe heart attacks and strokes. The program helps reduce barriers to prompt treatment — starting from when 911 is called, to EMS transport and continuing through hospital treatment and discharge.

Congratulations Ambulance team! 🎉💙🙌

At WinnMed, patient safety guides everything we do—especially when it comes to supporting those with swallowing difficulties (dysphagia). Dysphagia can occur after a stroke, due to other neurological conditions, or simply as part of the aging process. To support safe eating, Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) evaluate and treat swallowing difficulties and make individualized recommendations for diet texture and liquid consistency.

Last week, our Nutrition Services team trained alongside our clinical dietitians and Speech Language Pathologists to practice preparing and testing foods that meet the International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative (IDDSI texture standards. This hands on session helps ensure every meal we serve is safe, consistent, and meets the unique needs of our patients.

More information about IDDSI guidelines is available at www.iddsi.org.

Beware of counterfeit car seats!
Trickling into our region is an uptick of counterfeit car seats. These seats are being purchased on Amazon via third party sellers, Temu, TikTok Shop, and other online marketplaces. Counterfeit car seats DO NOT hold up in a car accident and WILL NOT protect your child. Accident reports reveal these seats twist and crumble under pressure.

Please help spread the word to family and friends. Learn how to spot counterfeit seats here: http://rileymaher5.wixsite.com/iowa-child-passenger/about-3

As a reminder, WinnMed has four certified car seat technicians and offers free bi monthly car seat checks at our east entrance from 4–6 pm. Upcoming 2026 dates: March 12, May 14, July 9, Sept. 10, Nov. 12.

You can also schedule an appointment anytime: 563 387 5361.
