You may have heard about the black box warning on IM vitamin K as it is now yet another scary thing as a parent that you learn about on the internet. Hears the deal, black box warnings are placed when something bad happens and it’s important to understand the facts behind it and what your actual risks are. This video explains that there has only been 1 documented case of IM vitamin K anaphylaxis in infants over the last few decades and millions of infants have received it around the world. The other cases were adults and the majority of those were IV not IM and I also explain the thought as to why infants are much less likely to have any issues.
As always, this is just more information for you to make the best decision for your child but I wanted you to have the facts not just the scare tactics.
