September has been Recovery Awareness Month, and while I want to be cautious of pride, I’d be remiss if I let the month end without launching some gratitude & hope out into The World. If you feel hopeless because you cannot do something on your own, I’m here to tell you that getting help is one of the strongest things you can do. You’re not bad or wrong or “less than” if you are actually sick and powerless, but you’re gonna’ have to lower the drawbridge of your fortress to let some assistance in. If you you’ve been trying to change for a while and you haven’t been able to, I’ve got hard news for you: chances are good that YOU CAN’T CHANGE BY YOURSELF. Recovery does not happen - CANNOT happen - in a vacuum. That’s where you stay the same: when you only rely on yourself. Vulnerability may be scary, but vulnerability is indestructible. You will not be destroyed by admitting defeat, nor by surrendering to help that is outside of what you already know & have tried. In fact, rejuvenation & liberation are available to you, and it’s gotta’ start with methods that you have yet to try; methods that are most likely not your own. And while it’s easy for me to say all this now that I’ve got 20+ years away from my chosen agents of denial & self-harm, you can trust that an amazing life is waiting for you, but you’re gonna’ need a hand. Fortunately, if you choose to look for them, there are hands everywhere, ready & willing & able to guide you. If you need any more inspiration, experience, strength, hope, or direction, DM me and we can talk.
TONS of love & Light to all my sisters & brothers out there who walk the path with me, and to those who have thrown brightness into my darkness & pushed me when I didn’t know how to push myself.
