THE NINE DAYS OF MOTHER DIVINE. It is said that during the springtime days of Mother Divine, she walks on earth, coaxing the plants into new growth, reminding the birds of their springtime song and warming the soil so that trees can bud and bloom.
Shiva Sai Mandir will be celebrating the Nine Days of Mother Divine from Saturday, March 17th, through Sunday, March 25th. At Shiva Sai Mandir we will be celebrating Navaratri by honoring the Mahavidyas, ten forms of great knowledge as ten different goddesses. There will be 6-6:30 pujas on these days. Please come for any of the pujas. Flowers, fruits and donations are welcome.
The worship of the Mother Goddess dates back to the most ancient of the world’s traditions. Worship of cosmic energy, nature and fertility in the form of The Mother is a tradition that is seen in a variety of forms on all continents.
From the Vedic tradition it is said that the Divine Mother in the form of Durga (She Who Protects Her Children and Vanquishes Enemies) fought for nine days and triumphed over the formidable demons of Ignorance and Egoism. The Nine Days of Mother Divine are known as “Navaratri,” meaning the Nine Lunar Days at the seasonal junctions of Spring and Fall. This seasonal observance celebrates the victory of enlightenment over ignorance. There are dozens of different faiths celebrating Navaratri. All of these traditions center on overcoming weakness, annihilating fear and negativity, and receiving divine wisdom and liberation.
