We went to the park yesterday and saw this momma and her little ducklings. We observed them for some time. My two year old loves ducks, but especially the ducklings.

At one point, the momma duck led her babies out of the water and onto dry land. It was here that we witnessed her literally flip one of the ducklings over with her foot and then promptly step on said duckling 😳 and then, she kept walking as if it were just a regular occurrence 🤣 the duckling also got up and dusted itself off and kept on moving as if this weren't the first time it happened 🤦🏼‍♀️

We, as parents are expected to lead our children and not step on their interests, development, or emotions. How many times have you felt stepped on in a place of work, though? I know it has happened to me several times. My ultimate goal is to be a better leader, not only in my house, but in my community and place of work.

So how do we do this? It starts with your internal dialog. When we start with positive affirmations of ourselves, we can pour that same positive energy out into each aspect of our lives! Speak love and encouragement to not only ourselves, but also into our kids, our employees, and our coworkers. I guarantee that if you start with your own internal dialog, you will see a big change in your home and your place of work.

Developmental milestones are easy to see when you have an infant. Smiling, tracking objects with their eyes, rolling over, sitting up, walking, talking, etc. Once they cross into toddler-hood, the milestones may not be as apparent, but they are just as important.

Today, my infant is smiling at me and tracking objects with his eyes. He's about to start rolling over, and we're working on gripping toys. He's growing up too fast! But I'm so glad he's hitting all of his developmental milestones!

My two year old, on the other hand, is starting to form sentences. They are short and sweet, and they will take a lot of time to fully develop, but with the proper encouragement and positive reinforcement, we are going to keep him moving in that positive direction. (He says "boat", and I respond by saying "you're right, a boat! The boat is in the water". This helps him to recognize the word again and a function of that particular word).

My toddler hit a milestone today that no one talks about. He was able to be in the big boy swing all by himself! While this may not seem to be a big deal, it certainly is. This means that he has developed the appropriate motor skills and balance to hold onto the seat and keep himself centered so he doesn't fall off, even when pushed.

It is bittersweet seeing our little ones grow up. Cherish these moments while they are little, because they fly by!

Kaley Cuoco is ...

An actress
An equestrian
An athlete
An entrepreneur
An animal lover
A business owner
A leader
And a mom

Of all those "jobs", she considers being a mom the most rewarding. She's definitely embracing this relatively new role in her life, and she's so deserving of it.

She embraces all of her roles, on and off stage, with such grace, it's admirable. Balancing all of these roles and still being able to come home to her partner and their daughter is challenging, to say the least. Yet, somehow, she does it. And she does it well.

I've looked up to her for years simply because of her enormous heart and the compassion she has for all living beings. But with her newest role, as a mom, I admire her even more.

"A mother's arms are more comforting than anyone else's" - Princess Diana

There's so much truth to this. I still run to my mom when I'm facing any problem ... I probably get rather obnoxious at times too 🤷🏼‍♀️

If we are parenting our children right and being their safe space, then this won't be a concern. A mother's love is so pure and unconditional, even when our little ones push all of our buttons. So how do we ensure that we always remain the most comforting place for our kids?

The short answer? Be present. Be intentional. Be supportive. Be loving. Be comforting. Show up.

Is it always easy to be these things? No. But this is where we, as parents, set ourselves and our children up for success! In the moments that your children are driving you absolutely crazy, take a deep breath before reacting to whatever they are doing. Count to 10 if you need to. This will help you to react in a more positive and encouraging way. Form your words and actions wisely, because they will have a lasting effect.

Hug your little ones extra tight, too, because these years fly by in the blink of an eye.

Is 14,000 steps a day a good average for toddlers? I'll let you know my son's average in a few days 🤣

Being a mom is the greatest gift I've ever received, but dammit, it's hard!

Sometimes you just feel ... blah. So how do we get out of that rut?
