The industry, the ads, the shortcuts, the lawsuits… It’s been around longggg before me - The ads full of models that have unrealistic beauty standards and companies cutting every corner at the consumers cost to further their bottom line.

Not only has the beauty industry created many insecurities among generations, it’s also been using unethical practices such as animal testing, harmful ingredients, all while causing significant health & environmental damage.

🫣 When I started my safe swapping journey - it was SO overwhelming. I felt like I knew nothing and had relied on the brand to tell me they were green or clean.

☠️ They call it “organic” - I call it marketing manipulation... and I see this one aaaaallll the time and from huge influencers who claim to be “low tox” 😔

Here are the receipts…

🤷🏻‍♀️ Anybody else get ads for this “organic daily cleanser” in their feed? I see it all over my feed & I believe the average consumer would believe they’re getting a certified organic product. Wouldn’t you?

❗️Well I opened the ad and read the label and here is what I found…

👍🏼 3 Certified Organic Ingredients

👎🏼 22 Ingredients that are NOT certified organic

😵‍💫 This is a startling reminder that marketing for personal care products is entirely unregulated. Brands can and DO choose to mislead consumers and sell a lie by slapping words like “organic” on their marketing.

😍 On the flipside, here is the label for my favorite daily cleanser: Organic Palm Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, Water (Aqua), Organic Glycerin, Organic Oat Kernel Flour, Organic Shea Butter, Kaolin, Sodium Citrate, Organic Jojoba Seed Oil, Organic Argan Oil.

🙌🏼 You’ll never see it being marketed as “organic” because that would be a misleading statement. Yet, it contains 7 certified organic ingredients and 3 ingredients that are simply unable to be sourced organic and are needed for formulation.

Did you see the news about the Neutrogena makeup wipes recall? 😬
Turns out, some batches tested positive for bacteria — yikes!

Kind of ironic, right? We use wipes to clean our faces, not add extra germs to the mix.

I’ll admit, those blue packs used to be my go-to. They were convenient, inexpensive, and easy to find. But once I started digging into what was actually in them… that was the end of our relationship. 👋

Now, I just wash my face the old fashioned way - soap (Crunchi gentle cleansing bar) and water. I found that using wipes didn’t make me feel nearly as clean and it was harsh on my skin with the wiping no matter how gentle I was.

But for those that love the wipes, there IS an option. I love these and got them for my teen, too.

You can use these to dry your face after cleansing, pair with an oil or balm, and pair with a cleanser for gentle exfoliation. They are disposable but reusable - Just rinse and hang to dry!
