🍲 I am teaching Starting Solids class on Saturday 12/9 11.30-1pm at the mama'hood Denver.

If you or someone you know has a baby who is turning 6 months old in the next month or so and you’d like to learn about introduction of solid foods - check out this class. I’ll bring some yummy foods for your littles to actually try and explore.

If you are a provider - please share with your families. It’s a lot of fun!

Yay to the recommendation change of breastfeeding for 2 years and beyond as outlined in the updated American Academy of Pediatrics policy statement available June 27. Now let’s equip new families with resources to help them do so and start working on improving support system for the families and removing workplace barriers.

“Breast milk is unique in its nutrients and protective effects, and really quite remarkable when you look at what it does for a child’s developing immune system. Not everyone can breastfeed or continue breastfeeding for as long as desired for various reasons, including workplace barriers. Families deserve nonjudgmental support, information and help to guide them in feeding their infant.”

AAP identifies stigma, lack of support and workplace barriers as obstacles that hinder continued breastfeeding.

💦 Breast Milk Donations are urgently needed!!!

Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA) released a joint statement with Mothers’ Milk Bank conveying the urgent need for human milk donations.

Donor human milk is used in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) to provide life-saving nutrition for newborn babies, especially premature infants. As the COVID-19 pandemic persists and the need for donor human milk in NICUs increases, Colorado-based Mothers’ Milk Bank, a program of Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation, is putting out the call to new parents and encouraging donations of excess milk.

“For every ounce of milk, we can feed a micro-preemie in the NICU for a day, meaning every donation we receive has a profound impact,” says Rebecca Heinrich, Director of Mothers’ Milk Bank.
