🎄 Supporting Someone in Recovery This Holiday Season 🎄

The holidays are a time of joy — but they can also bring extra stress for those in recovery. If you have a loved one working to stay sober, here’s how you can support them this season:

💛 Be understanding: Celebrate their achievements and recognize the challenges of staying sober.
💛 Offer encouragement: A simple “I’m proud of you” goes a long way.
💛 Respect boundaries: Don’t pressure them to drink or participate in triggering situations.
💛 Include them in healthy activities: Suggest walks, movies, games, or other sober-friendly traditions.
💛 Stay connected: Check in regularly, even virtually, and make sure they know you’re there for them.

This Christmas Eve, let’s remember that presence, patience, and support are some of the greatest gifts we can give. 🎁

🎄 Avoid Holiday Relapse Triggers 🎄

The holidays are a joyful time — but they can also be stressful and full of triggers for anyone in recovery. 💛 Staying aware can help you enjoy the season safely and sober.

Here are some common holiday relapse triggers to watch out for:
❌ Overindulging in alcohol at gatherings
❌ High-stress family interactions or conflict
❌ Feeling isolated or overwhelmed by expectations
❌ Overcommitting to social events or work
❌ Forgetting self-care and skipping recovery meetings

Tips to stay strong:
✅ Attend at least 4 AA/NA meetings a week
✅ Set healthy boundaries with family or friends
✅ Have an exit plan for stressful situations
✅ Prioritize sleep, nutrition, and exercise
✅ Connect with your support network regularly

This holiday season, plan ahead, protect your recovery, and celebrate safely. Every small choice counts toward staying sober and strong. 🙌

❄️ First Day of Winter: Winter Wellness Tips ❄️

Winter is here! While the season brings cozy moments and holiday cheer, it can also be challenging for mental and physical wellness — especially in recovery. 💛

Here are some tips to stay well and centered this winter:
✨ Stay active – Even a short walk or light stretching can boost mood and energy.
✨ Prioritize sleep – Shorter days can affect your sleep; keep a healthy routine.
✨ Eat nourishing foods – Warm soups, veggies, and protein help sustain energy.
✨ Stay connected – Check in with your support network, attend meetings, and talk to loved ones.
✨ Practice self-care – Journaling, meditation, or a cozy hobby can reduce stress and support recovery.

Remember, winter wellness is about balancing body, mind, and recovery. Let’s embrace the season safely, sober, and supported! 💙

🎄 Creating a Holiday Recovery Plan

The holidays can be joyful—but they can also bring stress, triggers, and high-risk situations for anyone in recovery. Planning ahead can help you stay grounded, safe, and sober. 💛

Here are some tips for creating your holiday recovery plan:

✨ Know your triggers. Identify situations, places, or people that might challenge your sobriety.

✨ Set boundaries. Decide ahead of time what events you’ll attend, how long you’ll stay, and what topics are off-limits for conversation.

✨ Stay connected. Check in with your sponsor, recovery friends, or support network regularly.

✨ Plan self-care breaks. Take a walk, journal, meditate, or step away if things feel overwhelming.

✨ Have an exit strategy. Always have a way to leave safely if a gathering becomes too stressful.

✨ Celebrate your wins. Even small victories — like attending a family dinner sober — are worth acknowledging.

Your recovery comes first. Planning now helps you enjoy the holidays with peace, presence, and purpose. 🙌

💛 Setting Healthy Boundaries This Holiday Season

The holidays can be full of joy — but they can also bring stress, pressure, and old family dynamics that make staying grounded a challenge.
If you’re in recovery, remember this: your peace comes first.

Here are a few simple ways to set healthy boundaries with family this season:

✨ Protect your time.
It’s okay to leave early, say no to extra gatherings, or choose quiet over chaos.

✨ Share what you’re comfortable with.
You don’t owe anyone explanations about your recovery, your past, or your plans.

✨ Plan ahead.
Set up check-ins with your sponsor, sober friends, or support network.

✨ Give yourself permission to step away.
If a conversation or environment feels triggering, take a breather.

✨ Remember your “why.”
You’re working hard to build a better life — and that deserves protection.

You are allowed to put your recovery, your mental health, and your well-being first.
Healthy boundaries aren’t selfish — they’re strength. 💙

🎄 What Our Staff Love Most About Working at Kingdom Living During the Holidays ❤️

We asked our team a simple question:
“What is your favorite thing about working at Kingdom Living during the holidays?”

Their answers remind us just how special this season truly is within our community:

✨ “The people and the smiles — so much love and care for all.”
✨ “Talking with the guys about spending time with their families for the holidays.”
✨ “Seeing residents reconnect with family they haven’t seen in years and hearing their joyful stories.”
✨ “Knowing this Christmas will be someone’s first Christmas (maybe ever) reunited with their kids or loved ones — what a gift.”
✨ “Watching residents experience the holidays with fresh eyes, especially with their children.”
✨ “Being there for the women—sharing their joy and struggles and showing them they truly have a support system.”
✨ “All of the ‘firsts’—first time invited to family gatherings, first time feeling confident, first time showing up fully present, first time buying gifts for their kids in years. The joy in these milestones is priceless.”
✨ “Seeing clients reconnect with their families and the joy of being fully present for them.”
✨ “And of course… the Managers’ Christmas Party!” 🎉

At Kingdom Living, the holidays aren’t just a season — they’re a time of healing, reconnection, restoration, and firsts that will never be forgotten.

We are proud to walk alongside each resident as they rebuild their lives, one day at a time. ❤️
