Excited to share my latest project of adapting a GMC Yukon Denali Firetruck for my spunky, adorable friend, Drew! This cool firetruck has working LED headlights, overhead flashing lights with fire siren, working horn, speakerphone and mp3 player plugin with speakers. I made sure to share a little bit of the therapeutic reasoning behind each adaptation in order to make this car tailored to fit his individual needs and work toward his physical and occupational therapy goals. So excited to see him learn to drive his car and get to enjoy spending time outside this summer cruising around with the windows down ☀️🕶🚗

Everybody meet the worlds biggest sweetheart, Jayse! Jayse is three years old and has cerebral palsy. He is next up to get an adapted car to provide him with a fun form of mobility this summer. His family are very big Jeep lovers, so I will be adapting a Jeep this time. This jeep is much more intense than other cars I have done before as it is a 12V with many cool features such as a working push to start button, headlights and dashboard lights, working ipod/stereo system, High/Low speed options, and parent control remote. This is going to be a much harder job than previous cars due to all the additional wiring, but im excited and up for the challenge!! Stay tuned to see how this Superhero-themed Jeep turns out for Jayse!

"Isaac’s name is Hebrew for “he laughs” or “laughter”. We chose his name after prenatally learning that he had multiple congenital heart defects that would require an open-heart surgery. We hoped that if he could be born healthy, perhaps he could be born happy.

He has Down syndrome and spent close to three months in the NICU, with another three months in the hospital for various illnesses and surgeries. In addition to having congenital heart defects, he also has stage 3 subglottic stenosis tracheobronchomalacia and severe GERD. As such, he is fed via g-tube, has a tracheostomy tube and respiratory support via a ventilator, our hope is that over time he may grow strong enough to learn to breathe and eat interpedently.

Through it all, Isaac has lived up to his name. He remains happy, playful, and stubborn. He loves his new truck-this gives him a unique opportunity to explore his world on his terms. By strengthening his trunk in this fashion, he can also improve his respiratory status and overall health."

Jackson has an identical twin brother and they were born at 26 weeks gestation. Jackson was 1lb 11oz and 13.5 inches long when he was born. A fighter from the start, he was born neither breathing nor a heart rate. He was revived and taken straight to the NICU where he and his brother spent the next three and a half months before going home. On day two of life, Jackson suffered from a severe bilateral brain hemorrhaging and severe hydrocephalus; essentially a stroke of both sides of his brain with a large amount of fluid accumulation. He was taken to surgery where a shunt was placed. This incident changed Jackson’s life. It damaged the cerebellum significantly. Jackson subsequently has Cerebral Palsy, severe hearing loss, and bilateral and Cortical Vision Blindness. These impairments have resulted in him being unable to walk or crawl and is currently only able to move around by rolling from place to place. Therefore, the goal was to get Jackson up off the ground, at eye level with others, to be a kid, and start exploring by the means of an adapted car. Jackson now has a new life on wheels and is ready to hit the road!

Look at this big smile!! Finally got to give Tate his finished adapted car this weekend and he LOVED it! He jumped on right away and started signing go. Didn’t take him longer than 30 seconds to figure out how to make it go and start driving around GIGI’s Playhouse. Nothing makes me happier than seeing these kids smile and drive their car for the first time. Now, just for the weather to warm up so he can start riding it around the farm. ☀️🐄🚜🌽

Everybody meet Tate! He was the winner of one of the cars up for auction at GIGI’s Playhouse “I Have a Voice “ gala. He’s an adorable, adventurous and energetic four year old with Down Syndrome. He enjoys spending time looking at all the animals on his farm and playing with his sister. He is pretty high functioning so only needs a few adaptive switches installed, so should be a quick fix! He is very excited for his new ride! Stay tuned to see his completed adapted Yellow Dinoco car.
