**IMPORTANT BOOK UPDATE!**
Hey, friends!
I'm a local Autistic Author/Artist, and I'm self-publishing my first children's book called
Cece & The Cone of Compassion;
a story based on my own two kitties about accepting our differences (& disabilities), and leading with curiosity and kindness, rather than fear or judgement.

In order to get the book quality y'all deserve (hardcover, nicer paper, custom end pages, etc), I'm going to have to purchase the printed copies upfront, and then distribute them myself (to bookstores and individuals).

This is going to cost me around $2,100 to get 100* printed copies. *The minimum required number

If you might be interested in pre-ordering my book for $28, please comment with the number of copies you'd like.

I'm not asking for payment right now. This is just to gauge interest, so I know if I'll be able to sell enough copies to be able to afford printing my book.

As more and more people ask me when my book, Cecie & The Cone of Compassion, will be available for purchase, I'm more strongly considering just self-publishing to get it out into the world, and into the hands of those who need it most.

Making a profit off this project has never been my main focus.
Honestly? I really just wanted to work with a publisher because I felt as though I needed that external validation that my work was "good enough."

However, I'm realizing that waiting for that praise has been keeping me stuck. Especially, because I haven't had the motivation/energy to contact more than two publishers in the last year. Lol

I want to do right by the people who have been so supportive, and have been patiently waiting.

So, I'm going to put my pride aside and figure out a way to self-publish.

I would LOVE to make Cecie & The Cone of Compassion free to anyone who wants it, but printing and distributing costs money that I just don't have, so I'm going to try to set up a way to pre-order copies of the book to help with upfront publishing costs.

For those new around here, I thought I'd introduce myself!

My name is Sarah Ashby. I'm an Autistic/ADHD Author & Artist from Altoona, IA.

As a children's book author, my goal is to write stories that both kids and adults can get excited about.

When I'm not working on my children's books, you can find me volunteering, going thrifting or camping with friends, making impactful art, cuddling with my two goblins... I mean, cats, Cecie & Lucy, photographing fungi, spending time with my family, and helping other disabled and/or neurodivergent folks navigate life & find proper care while feeling heard and understood🧡
