We would like to welcome our newest addition to Prana Mudra Center, Megan she brings high energy and a strong yoga, practice and strong teaching skills. We are very proud to have her here. She will be subbing her first class Tuesday Sept 23
I began my yoga journey in 2003, when friends recommended hot power yoga to help me manage the stress of studying biology at the University of Texas, working in banking, and caring for my father who lived with multiple sclerosis. I walked into my first class determined to be the best. Thankfully, the practice transformed me over the years - what began as a competitive outlet became a pathway to peace, grounding, and alignment in body, mind, and spirit.
My teacher training began in New York City at Kula Yoga Project, where I completed Module One of the Wanderlust Yoga Teacher Training with Nicki Vilella, Kevin Courtney and Schuyler Grant. I went on to complete my 200-hour Hatha Yoga teacher training in 2015 at Wanderlust Yoga in Austin, Texas, under the guidance of Gioconda Parker.
To deepen my practice and teaching, I pursued my 500-hour Advanced Teacher Training at Practice Yoga Austin, studying with Gioconda Parker, Shanti Kelley, Iva Drtina-Hall, and Shawn Kent. This training included studies in leadership, spiritual psychology, anatomy, mindfulness, and Ayurveda, as well as in-depth exploration of Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Smart Flow (via Shanti Kelley), and Yin Yoga.
Through these years of training and practice, I’ve learned that yoga isn’t about achieving the perfect pose, it’s about using alignment in the body to reflect and restore alignment in the mind and heart. My goal as a teacher is to create space for students to rediscover their own power, stillness, and presence.
