✨ Today I had the honor of touring Birth Detroit with my mentor and a long-time supporter of Birth Detroit, Elise Bowerman ()

Birth Detroit is the city’s first freestanding, community birth center—a beautiful, home-like space where midwives provide prenatal, birth, and postpartum care.

Birth Detroit Care is for every birthing person with a low-risk pregnancy—offering more time in prenatal visits, quality childbirth education, postpartum support, and a model of care that treats you as a partner. They involve your partner and respect your race, culture, language, gender identity, attractional orientation, and life experiences.

Birth Detroit Care is patterned after the JJWay® maternal health model Easy Access Clinic™, which centers access, connection, knowledge, and empowerment as keys to a healthy pregnancy, healthy birth, and healthy baby.

Walking through the space, I felt joyful. It felt safe, comfortable, and so thoughtfully designed—every detail supporting the experience of birth and healing in community.
