The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services wants to hear from the community about what’s working and what isn’t when it comes to getting HIV prevention, care and testing. This 5 minute survey about the barriers people face related to sexual health and HIV prevention.

The survey is for community members who are 18 and older, with emphasis on people who may access sexual health services or be at risk of contracting HIV. The survey asks questions about people’s experiences learning about prevention options, getting tested and finding treatment.

Survey results will help develop Michigan’s five-year Integrated HIV Prevention and Care Plan for implementing effective and innovative strategies to improve care for people living with HIV and reduce the prevalence of new HIV diagnoses in Michigan.

The Grand Rapids LGBTQ Healthcare Consortium has launched an Adolescent Sexual Health Toolkit. This toolkit is designed for youth ages 10-21, their adult caregivers and healthcare providers. Research has shown that somewhere between 50-80% of sexual health histories are blank in electronic health records. This is a HUGE missed opportunity to educate, screen and protect individuals. We are hopeful this toolkit will help individuals learn how to keep themselves protected and will provide the tools needed to do this. We are currently working on an adult version of this toolkit and one on intersex healthcare, which should be launched later this year. here is the link to the Toolkit :

The Grand Rapids LGBTQ Healthcare Consortium is hosting an all day in‑person conference on May 1, 2026 which will be bringing together community leaders, healthcare professionals, and advocates to reimagine what truly equitable care can look like.
The day will feature a keynote address from Jay Kaplan of the ACLU of Michigan’s LGBT Project, a series of dynamic breakout sessions, and a thought‑provoking panel discussion.
