DETROIT (7/18/2022) -- The University of Detroit Mercy strength and conditioning staff has announced two new assistant coaches in Kaitlin Burgess and Kevin Long.

The University of Detroit Mercy is currently accepting application for the full-time position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. Detroit Mercy is an NCAA Division I institution that sponsors 17 varsity sports that compete primarily in the Horizon League.

We are seeking a dynamic team player to join our staff that has a passion for collegiate athletics and enjoys working with student-athletes and coaches. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will assist the Director of Strength & Conditioning in developing and implementing performance enhancement, conditioning, speed and agility, and strength training with an emphasis in injury prevention for all 17 sports teams.

* Bachelor’s Degree required w/ Master’s Degree Preferred * Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and/or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certification (SCCC) *CPR/AED Certification *Collegiate and/or Professional Strength and Conditioning Coaching required *Appreciation of the student-athlete experience, being a team player on and off campus and have selfless energy for the department and well-being of the student-athlete *Embrace the importance of effective communication and solid documentation skills *Understanding of long work days and possible travel and a commitment to knowing what it takes to make a difference in staff and student-athlete’s lives *A great sense of humor and a positive outlook on life is a must
