Our mission is to provide financial and emotional support for survivors of suicide loss and individuals with lived experience of suicide, while engaging in community prevention through mental health education and advocacy to support healthier futures. Our Programs and services:
Lemon Aid- Suicide Loss Support Program-
While the outreach is a huge part of what we do, one of the most rewarding and potentially life saving is our financial assistance program, Lemon Aid. We are the only non profit in the US that offers financial support for costs associated with death for those who lost a loved one by suicide (suicide loss survivors). This includes biohazard remediation, funeral services and costs having to do with those services. Each applicant has a Client Advocate to support their emotional needs and assist in finding further supports and resources in their area. We currently only serve Michigan and Kansas. Suicide- Suicide Prevention Outreach-
We are extremely passionate about connecting with communities and individuals through our grassroots outreach. SFO feels it is important to meet people where they are at, both literally and figuratively, in their journeys to help answer questions about suicide, mental health, as well as related topics, giving them space to cry or tell their stories, but also connecting them with possible resources. We do this by showing up, attending and tabling at community festivals, concerts, bars, community nights and so much more.
