Almost every holiday that we celebrate has ancient roots that go back to times when our ancestors worshipped nature and the old gods they found within it.
They honored the Sun’s rebirth, their own ancestors, and the spirits of the land.
They lit fires, told stories, and remembered they had survived another winter. Something that was huge in days where lives literally hinged on the returning of the sun.
Evergreens were brought inside to honor life that survives the dark. Literally where what we now know as "Christmas trees" come from. Candles were lit to call the Sun back home. Feasting together marked survival, gratitude, and hope.
Christmas didn’t erase these traditions — it absorbed them. And these roots still hum beneath modern traditions — ancient, steady, and enduring.
