Got to compete in my first ever BJJ tournament. Managed to win all of my matches by submission and walk out with 3 gold metals. I dislocated one of my fingers halfway through my second match but luckily my Coach .mma is a nurse so he put it back in place and taped it so I could continue. Went right back out and ended up submitting that opener right after it was taped and then picked up two more submissions after that. Thanks Coach K**e for fixing it so I could continue competing!

I had a lot of fun with all my coaches and teammates and will for sure being doing more BJJ tournaments in the future.

Can never say enough how amazing Grandmaster Al Garza, And Master Cody Garza are for always allowing their facilities to be used to train the COM Police Academy cadets. This training is so very important and an area that does not get enough focus. The Garza’s always open their facilities up to us and many instructors like Sergio Enrique Vicencio Bautista, Armando Ortiz, Andre Kimble, Shannon Miftari, Danny McDonald, Jacob Avery, Allen, and so many others come in and share their time and knowledge. We really try to provide the best and most realistic hand to hand training we can to the cadets.

They leave with bumps, bruises, and soreness. However they also leave with an understanding of the importance of training and hopefully a sense of pride for what they have just accomplished. These cadets have worked hard on the mats and I’m proud of them. ”more sweat in training, less blood in combat” are words my dad instilled in me from a young age. It’s not always fun, it’s never easy, but it’s always worth it.

Yesterday while exploring the oldest city in the United States a thunderstorm rolled through dropping some rain. After hanging out under an awning for about 20 minutes I got to take a stroll (and pictures) down the Oldest Street in the United States. Aviles St in St. Augustine Florida.

When your asked to take a few pictures of the Guinea Pigs, but your a photographer so you you turn it into a portrait session. Not my most compliant subjects but I think I got the job done.

Hope everyone is having an awesome and safe Independence Day.

I just finished up my training session before I head to work tonight. Although training was closed for the 4th, I still have to prepare to go to War August 14th. No days off for me as I am in the final stretch of fight camp. The back of my shirt says it all.

Be safe tonight and remember, we are able to celebrate this day because good men were armed! The only defense against evil men, are good men skilled men in violence! The Warrior may not be the most popular class of individuals but in the times of peril the Warrior is the most needed.
