THE PRESENCE IS ALWAYS THE PRESENT‼️
Discussion about the importance of fathers in the lives of their children with our Executive Director, Mike Curry and Outreach Coordinator, Chache Pope.
The systematic division of marginalized households is rarely an accident of fate; rather, it is the predictable outcome of state-sponsored neglect and tactical destabilization. At the root, intergenerational poverty enforced by redlining and the physical sequestration of families into high-density housing projects created a pressure cooker where economic survival often necessitated extra legal means. This environment was further poisoned by the strategic influx of illegal narcotics and fi****ms into BIPOC communities, transforming neighborhoods into combat zones and providing the state with a justification for militarized policing.
As mass incarceration took hold, the removal of men from these communities wasn’t just a legal penalty; it was a targeted extraction of emotional and financial pillars. This cycle effectively fractured the nuclear family, leaving behind single-parent households and traumatized youth, thereby ensuring that the socioeconomic “divide and conquer” strategy persisted across generations.
