Today we honor Martin Luther King Jr. and reflect on the deeper roots of community health and justice.

During the Civil Rights Movement, the first Federally Qualified Health Centers grew out of the work being done in Mound Bayou Mississippi, where leaders recognized that access to healthcare is inseparable from dignity, equity, and opportunity. Health care was not a privilege. It was a civil right.

That belief continues to guide our work today.

At Chiricahua, we exist to serve our communities with compassion, respect, and a commitment to health for all. Every patient encounter is part of a larger story that began with the conviction that justice includes caring for one another, especially those most often left behind.

On this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we honor the legacy of those who fought for equality by continuing the work. Building healthier communities. Removing barriers to care. And standing firm in the belief that everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and cared for.

-----

Esa convicción sigue guiando nuestro trabajo hoy.

As of January 1, 2026, Chiricahua has begun asking patients with commercial insurance to make a payment toward their annual deductible at the time of their visit for medical, nutrition, and behavioral health services.
This change only applies to single commercial insured patients with no secondary insurance who have a deductible with their plan, not all office visits will require a deductible collection.
We want to be clear and reassuring.
No one is being denied care.
If you are unable to pay the full amount at your visit, our staff will talk with you about your options and ask if you can make a payment toward your deductible. This is part of a patient’s responsibility when using commercial insurance and helps us meet insurance requirements while continuing to provide high-quality care for our community.
If you have any questions, please call us at 520-364-1429.
Thank you for your understanding and continued trust.
Chiricahua is here for you.

Again, this only applies to Commercial Insurance - This does NOT apply to State AHCCCS Patients
