In this weeks Entrepreneurs Leaders Evolution series here are some of the tips Sean Mabry, ghostwriter, recommended for book writing. I started with the question:
Why do we keep saying we’re “too busy” to go after our big goals?
Here’s what stood out from his answer 👇
We often tell ourselves we’re too busy to work on our “big” goals—but more often than not, we’re actually hiding.
He shared how even in his journey, there were seasons of just “cranking out money”—doing what worked, staying busy, but not necessarily being brave or aligned with a deeper purpose.
A few key takeaways from the interview when it comes to writing a book:
• It’s not really a time problem—it’s a conviction problem. If you’re not fully convinced your story matters, you’ll always find ways to avoid it.
• We think discipline means pushing through—but sometimes that resistance is actually a clarity issue, not a laziness issue.
• Staying on the “content hamster wheel” feels safer. Trends are temporary—but making a real, lasting statement? That’s where the fear kicks in.
What I appreciated most was how practical the advice was:
Instead of thinking about a broad audience, think of one real person. Who are you actually trying to help? What do they need to hear from you right now?
And if you can’t explain your message simply in one sentence—that’s usually a sign you need more clarity before taking action.
We also talked about “writer’s block” not as a discipline issue—but as a signal to pause and ask: Where am I unclear?
Curious—what's one thing you’ve been putting off, telling yourself you’re “too busy” for? If writing a book or telling your story is one of them, check out the full by clicking on the comment section for the youtube link.
