✨Hello, I’m Sara, the living person behind this account. I am a licensed therapist and owner of Woven Wood Integrative Therapy, located in Apex, NC.

🪺 In my healing practices I weave together somatic and relational frameworks with ecotherapy and reciprocity with Earth.

🌻 Most of my experience as a therapist has been helping folx with complex trauma, eating disorders and connection issues.

🌙 I love supervising and helping new therapists find their footing with their therapeutic practice.

🌍 I believe we alone cannot heal ourselves and especially not without helping heal our communities and the more than human kin and land.

🕸️ Outside of individual therapy, you can connect and work with me through two groups that are starting in the new year:

🌿 Eco-Connection - a community based group meeting on the banks of the Haw River for EcoSomatic and ritual practices - first gathering Feb 20th

🌀 Weaving Willows - a virtual supervision group for new therapists and associates across NC - first meeting Feb 2nd

🌈 If you’re interested in connecting with me about any of these offerings or wanting to just talk and get to know each other, grab some space on my calendar linked in my bio or email me.

Happy Yule & Solstice Blessings🕯️

✨A Winter Solstice poem to welcome the returning light, invite in slow expansion and peace:

Let your body take up space,
Let your skin feel warmth from the sun.
Let your legs move at their own pace,
and follow your center into the open.

✨December river walk along Simon’s favorite “hungry” river. We looked for fairy houses in tree holes, noticed which trees still had green leaves, through rocks in the river, and played in the sand on the river bank - all while pretending to be different animals and taking many snack breaks.

🌿 The more than human kin are already so magical - but imaginative & deeply sensing littles make it that much more 🌟

A Mountain Hike in Winter ❄️

A snowy path through the woods,
spending more time with your footing,
hearing the crunching of snow as you step,
a cold pinch on your face,
and the still-quiet of the forest.

Smelling an embodiment of fresh,
nothing and also something,
the snow looks blue,
then white,
then gold,
back to blue.

Feeling gratitude towards these flowers in my family’s yard. Each year they bloom in the Fall when the leaves start to really come down. I felt relieved to see them this weekend, reminding me how even in the midst of so much in question, in crisis and in pain in our world, the other than human continue to follow their seasonal patterns - a simple, but complex act of resiliency that can be counted on. “Phew, you’re back …you’re still going on the way you usually do” …like a secure attachment figure you’re still showing up. Thank you.

✨ Join me in briefly communing with the Haw River - ancestral land of the Sissipahaw tribe.

What do you hear…
See…
Notice in your body…
And with your breath…
while observing this video?

🪺 Pause… be-with your senses… stay with them for as long as you’d like to.

🌀 In the third video you can hear me humming while walking, something I do often involuntarily; for me humming indicates co-regulation - to people, safe spaces and the more-than-human.

💞 Are there places, people, communities you feel safe to co-regulate in? Have you been thinking about reaching out or returning to safe spaces? Maybe this can be a supportive nudge… let me know you need help bridging these connections.

🌊 Gratitude for this ancient river and the past and present stewards of this land. If you feel inspired and giving please donate to the Haw River Assembly - hawriver.org - to help in their stewardship efforts.

Starting to see more and more Autumn offerings during my EcoSomatic sessions 🍂

Have you ever wondered what happens in an EcoSomatic session?

During a session there could be…
🍁 Orienting to the present moment through curiosity, slowing down and using our near and far senses.
🍄‍🟫 Engagement in reconnecting sensory-guided exploration of the forest and lakeshore.
🌿 Opportunities to pause for sensing congruence between in & out and to notice body sensations.
🌼 Space for processing painful thoughts and feelings with both a human and more than human compassionate container.
